The boot that it comes with is an Rx8 boot specifically for the illuminated ****, they have a button to keep the top of the boot closed beneath the ****. That is there so you can unbutton the top of the boot, slide it down and unhook the LED wiring before removing the **** from the shifter.

I dunno if the boot will fit an Rx7. I sold mine on Rx8club for a few bucks.

The warning on the elastic band is necessary. Many people have sheered the wiring right off the **** at the base. I am in the process of trying to fix a **** with that issue.

The LEDs can be changed to any color available. Time and great care are needed to take apart these ***** though.

Some pictures of various color swaps I've done in this post:

Do you have to solder the LEDs on to the circuit board?

You can do that. But it is not easy to remove and replace the tiny LEDs from the board. Its much cheaper and easier to just remove the little circuit board and replace it with your own setup.

Also curious about this GB?

Any update would be appreciated. Not sure if I am too late or not?

Cheers!

The boot that it comes with fits. I just used a large, I guess commercial use stapler to staple the boot to the plastic ring thing and it fit just like it was made for it.
