How long does it take for customs to do a Full inspection vs a standard inspection?

What happens if they break something too?

Yea it's a rare event. But this shipment got hit up with a Customs inspection BOTH in Japan, then here in the US. I'm not sure what the heck's up with this shipment; I'm guessing it's multifactorial (car parts in general are being scrutinized more and more closely, plus the large customs value and even larger insurance value may have prompted further investigation). This is the first time any of my shipments have been inspected, and I can tell you, it's INCREDIBLY expensive (because you're charged storage by the warehouse/facility where it's being stored during the inspection process). I'm hurtin REAL bad right about now

Depends on what they pull out for further inspection (ie not only do they open up everything; they may choose certain items to be pulled aside and sent off to be further inspected). And to add to that, when they START the inspection depends on how busy/backed up they are at that given moment.

What happens if they break something too?
Don't know, don't wanna know, don't wanna think about that right now. Everything I ship is FULLY insured, but I don't know if that covers until pickup from the warehouse (ie during Customs inspection) or just the transit itself (time spent on the ship)

At $115 PER DAY, you better believe it. I'm not even sure how I'm gonna get all this money back

The stuff that they inspect but don't send off further inspection, is it then released to you?

LOL. No. The shipment is held up in it's entirety - including your super rare JDM turbos They may decide to refuse to release some parts (at which point things get REAL complex) while releasing the rest of the shipment, but that's only done when the entire shipment has been inspected and everything else has been cleared.

And I pay my $1000+ storage fee to date.

Not trying to be pushy and I understand that Ramy is a very busy guy, but we have all been patiently waiting for several months now and we have not heard anything after the shipment was held by the customs, can we at least get a current update of some sort? Thanks!

Here's the update I got guys. This is what the boxes currently look like (in addition to a $2,000 bill in storage fees) :

I'll be trying to unload, unpack, inventory, repack, and ship the parts out to their respective owners ASAP. What I need from you guys is to post up who needs their stuff ASAP, because processing an entire container takes TIME, and if I can focus on a few squeaky wheels, that'll get a good bit of whining off my back (oh woops, did I say that out loud? ) But yea, if you can HONESTLY post up ONLY if you ABSOLUTELY NEEEED your stuff ASAP, that would be great, and I'm gonna try and see if we can get 'em knocked out first.

Thanks,
~Ramy

What? Onl 2% of all storage containers get checked?? WOW.

So $2000 of storage fees cause by customs? That sucks. Its kinf of when they get the dog out for a drug sniff and the claws screw the paint on your vehicle.

93rx-7tt, who are you? I have no way of correlating forum names w/ real names.

Also, I'll be shooting you guys invoices very soon for the international & domestic shipping costs, once I have a final quote on everything, so keep an eye out for that plz, as I'll need that balance paid in full prior to shipping.

Thanks,
~Ramy

Ramy, I don't want to add to your troubles, but I kinda need my parts ASAP as well. My car's already in the bodyshop and I've been stalling them for sometime now. I'm really hoping I could get the rest of my stuff within the next week or so. I REALLY want to avoid having to take my car back to my bodyshop for the umpteenth time.

Let me know buddy...

As it stands right now, I can wait probably for another 3-4 weeks if that will help.

I didn't even order anything and I'm pissed. I can't believe they would charge you storage and, well....basically stick you in the *** on the deal.

Ramy, your job sucks. I couldn't handle people crawling on my back for answers I can't give, and then another group of people forcing an inspection and sending me a bill of unrealistic porportions....just couldn't do it.

My hat is off to you man.

Well Ramy - when inspecting parts, let me know if my hood took in the same damage as the previous one. I have a feeling they molested the crap out of it. I can shoot you shipping costs whenever....

Just keep me posted, Thx.
