Yeah I dont agree on Australia, my brother has lived down there for like 20 years and I have been there 5 or 6 times..

I would rather be in AUS over Japan anyday and almost any part too, except central hehe

If you speak Japanese sure....

you can find jobs to do to keep your hands dirty while you live here but you wont be able to find a job as a mechanic and be able to maintain your work visa status. you will also be needing a college degree along with your ASE ceritification if you want to work in Japan. There is also a license similar to taking the ase but a lot more in depth both written wise (in japanese) and actual physical task wise. Don't come to Japan expecting to work as a mechanic and earn a decent living or even continue to live here. You are better off teaching english part time and doing some work at a shop part time. They dont pay un-licensed mechanics much at all here but if you can figure out a way to sell parts or something for the company you can make up for the low pay. Good luck with it.
Pan Speed will hire ya if you speak a bit of Japanese and you are willing to work like a robot for peanuts or maybe natto hahaha.

I say.....If you are under 25 yrs old, looking to have fun, then go live in Japan...(BUT make sure you live in a city!!)....you'll have a blast.

Otherwise, I would stay and live in US.

are the japanese racist...i guess so. i never thought of it like that but its true, in a way. I remember sitting down on the subway next to someone, and having them get up and move to a different seat... It didnt bother me though. At the same time, japanese people are the nicest people i have ever met. I remember having so many japanese people come up and talk to me just for the hell of it, cause they were curious to learn about me. I also had a japanese shop owner give me a free gift for no reason at all except to be nice. If you walk around with a smile on your face, and are nice to people you will be treated nicely most of the time.

I'd rather walk around japan with the minor chance that someone wont want to sit next to me on the train, than walk around the us and get mugged.

I believe your attitude will decide wether or not you can live in japan and enjoy it. You have to like the japanee way of life, not just try to cope with it.

It can be frustrating when almost nothing is easy... like ordering at a restaurant, or trying to find your friends house..ect be prepared for almost everything to become some sort of adventure until you can speak japanese.

heyhey, read the whole thread bc im interested in moving to japan too..one day..

im not up for living there just because i could get an infini FC or countless other awesome cars. i'm really interested in japanese life and culture for sure, so its sympatic to me in all ways.
the expensive living does not affright me at all haha, because lving in germany isnt much cheaper.. we HAVE to pay horrible taxes and insurances for cars, house and the whole LIFE.

i am an official trained it-specialist now (threw the german education-system) but not enjoying that job much..
to tell you how it works: we have to go threw a 3-year school and job training for a job, like an it-specialist for example. now i have been trained for 3 years and got my (slightly better than average) license.
mayb im going to do a new training in the automotive branch as a mechanic and electronic technician at porsche (we have both in one job thats called mechatronic) for automotive repair and stuff.
i think its really nice to have a mechatronic license threw porsche AG germany (porsche provides one of the best trainings in germany), but i doubt it will be the "golden, open gate" for getting a job in japan.. the easiest way to get to japan is merriage or have some qualifications to b an english teacher at a school or beeing a doctor or something..

ok tell me what you think about it

ps. i dont know much about racism against germans, but i think it isnt that horrible like its against americans. my experiances are that lots of japanese people like germans becuase they think we are proudly nationalists becuas of WW2.. that is not true! but they think so.. and it seems they like the people and country.

but i dont think it will help me to get a job or good integration into the japanese system just because i am german lmao, so it will be a pain to get a job and acceptable living over there like you american brothers it have.. or had

I saw it for all non japanese even asians. Are you going to get lynched? No, and if you are just visiting and dont speak japanese you most likely wont even know they are being rude to you. You should have a great time on vacation.
