A31! Need some impression and info

Hi,

I had an FD and love it. I'm moving to SE Asia where cars are so expensive. So, for going fast (might not be as fast as FD), my choices are limited. I'm considering A31 or Cefiro as they call it.

I'd like to know about the car.
1. Is it a drift, drag, circuit, or etc kind of car??? I know it's kinda luxury, but...in sporty drive, what kind of car would it be?
2. Is it based off a version of a Skyline? [R32 maybe? ] or Silvia S13 as suspension parts are interchangable.
3. It's not very heavy....I think it weighs out around 1200-1300 Kg. But, is it oversteered car?
4. Any bad issue known?
5. Would you recommend it???????

Any input would be very appriciated!

Thank you in advance!

Its a cheap 4dr sedan. It is nothing special but it is relighable. Far from luxury...

You can swap a r32 gtst engine tranny into it and make a drifter, but it will never be comparable to an FD or Supra/Aristo.

Like an FR Ford Torus.

Thank you for the reply, Jesse!

And, that would probably sum it up!

BTW, I know that people have put RB20,25,26 in there...and 1J, 2J also (Yes!). But, have you heard about GT-R hi-tech 4WD drive train swap in A31? I mean A 31 could get RB26DETT, but why not the whole drive train?

Thank you.

If you have enough money ANYTHNG is possible. But RB20, RB25 is a far as it goes without getting into real serious dough.

If you have the dough get an aristo and do the 1000hp supra drivetrain thing and have a pimp interior and ride quality. IMNHO...

The only thing that vehicle can support (W/o $) is a drifter, and an rb 20 turbo would be enough to kick it sideways.

Thank you again, Jesse!

I'm actually more interested in getting RB26 because HKS has released their aftermarket variable valve timing for this engine. From the review that I came across, that thing helps a lot. Thus, I can fit a bigger turbo and still have respond

In the country, Toyota 1J and 2J are actually more common swap even to other brand. However I don't know and have not heard that there's any aftermarket VVT for those engine...or RB20 or RB 25 for that matter.

VVT is not ideal for high boost but, ok.

If you have the money for an HKS head, get a R34 GTR then...

???? Is the VVT that expensive? I never checked the price, but.....

After driving 13B so much, I'd like to get something different....power delivery wise. I really like 13B as you can rev and rev and rev.....and it rewards you with high fuel cut and more and more and more power following engine speed. But, I'm now looking to get high engine speed power, which can be had by bigger turbo. However, I don't really want to sacrafice mid end and respond of the engine....that's why I consider VVT. Or maybe I should look into 'Super Respond' turbo kit from some Japanese tuner. I remember seeing the coverage in BM video.

Most of the suspension pieces are interchangable with the S13

One of the drifters we sponsor is using the A31 with great success. He likes it more than his S13(Most likely due to the setup he had on the S13)

They come stock with the RB20det, which is faily quick, but not overly so. But there are a few with RB25 and 26, and I even have a customer with an SR20! So engine swaps aren't too difficult.

If you want, you can see this guy in action: http://www.d-sport.ca/andrew/videos/...ay_04_Mark.htm. He's running rb25 with 26 internals, GReddy TD06 25G turbo with 280 cams and Power FC.

I have full runs in car, outside, etc. if you would like me to send.
