help wit my 7
hi. i have spent countless hours pouring over endless threads about vins, models, and all that jazz. I know my FD is an early one but what i have bin looking for for days is how to find what model it is. I know the Type R, X, S and such and are the R-1, Base, and touring models. I know what most models came with and would like to think that i could tell the difference between them, but on my RX-7 i cannot. It is vintage red, has dual oil coolers, no sunroof or cruise, the engine brace, and the R1 seats. But it also has yellow fog lights, and a rear wiper. honestly i would like to know what model it is but i am kinda stumped. it is a JDM import car and i would like to know some more about it.
its Vin is FD3S-103854. check my pics below for some more info on it. any help i can get on this would be very appreciated, thx.
also i would like to know the history of the car while in japan, if anyone knows about any carfax or Vin checker things in japan please let me know, i dont mind paying for it, just carfax doesnt like import cars.

Your car was probably pieced together with those parts by whomever owned it in japan. I dont follow the 7 types to closely so I cant tell you by the VIN# but there should be a way to do so based on the vin.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Its a very early model FD, the first digit after the FD3S part indicates the build number. For example a FD3S 212 would inidicate a second generation FD.
The car looks pretty much stock condition, and still retains the original metal elbow that the first models engine is so eaily recognised by.
The interior also has the chrome rings on the gauges, the change pocket, that were in the early models.
Its not a type X as they had red leather seats and sunroof factory, and type S didnt have twin oil coolers, nor did the type S recieve a factory strut bar. Its definitely a Type R, early 1992 model.
