The only problem with a ' hood scoop ' ,,one that raises
above the hood line is,,what about water ?? and other crap,, an air box with a water trap is needed, or created.
on my other hood i cut and 'glassed in a NACA duct. since then i've replaced the hood with another hood untill i fab an air box with a water trap.

If your talking about the picture of the red 7, thats called a NACA duct, it's really a vent in-let, no scoop, flush with the hood line, or any line for that matter.

I had a plug for rainy days,
plus it was a k&n filter and wouldnt get ruined when wet.
