Be sure to install an alarm..

Yesterday morning I discovered that both doors were unlocked, and the plastic surround at the ignition as well as the bottom plastic part of the ignition cylinder was wrecked. Somebody had used a screwdriver to open the door and then tried to start it by short-circuiting the connections at the ignition-base. I was unbelievably lucky, since even though the car has never flooded on me (it is the turbo one from germany), he still managed to flood it - and then didn't know what to do about it and gave up. I unflooded it by pulling the egi fuse, and had no problems starting it by shortcircuiting the connections, so it is really not hard at all to steal a fc this way. The only problem he would have had if it didn't flood on him was the steering wheel lock, but I guess he has ways to get around that, being a carthief and all..
So be sure to install an alarm.. Or atleast a dobermann on the backseat..

Yeah, for once I am really happy that flooding occurs, this time it saved my ***! Since the car is still equipped with the temporary german plates, there is no insurance at all.
It happened in Randers at the parkinglot beneath my girlfriends apartment.
My white FC has an alarm installed, so I hope to get it on the road again ASAP. I am not gonna transplant the turbo-engine, but rebuild and hopefully port the NA engine instead.

Randers.... I have heard bad things, glad I don't live there.

I've been super busy with a home project but if you are ever in the area, stop in and have a beer. Are you going to the RX meeting in Sept?

Good for you that the car wasn't stolen. Hope you can get some insurancemoney, but LOL that's nothing compared to what happened to my Rx7.

When I got to my car I opened the lock with my key and I opened the door. But wait the door is locked? This must mean the door was already open. I then put the key back in there and I opened the door. Damn there was a piece of the dashboard on the floor and 1 piece was hanging by the electrical wiring. It was the plastic piece around the steeringcolumn. I sat down and checked what exactly had happened. The passenger door was also open, but there was no damage to both of the doors. The ignitionlock was removed with a screwdriver with just brute force. I was very suprised, because for some reason they didn't drove it away. I have my own securitysystem by cutting the power to the fuelpump so I wasn't worried about the car getting stolen, but I was surprised that the car wasn't somewhere 2 blocks away. I called the insurancecompany to tow the car to the garage and the guy came. He said let's try to start it, because it's easier to get the car on the trailer or else we had to push it. We used a small screwdriver and we could just start te car. I was stunned. Anyway the car got towed and I went back home and then it hit me right in the face. The thief didn't use the choke!

a few years ago, I saw a funny alarm on a turbo2 (was it Jimmy's?).

It could talk when you came to close (1 meter or so) to the car.
If you did not back-off the car/alarm began to talk louder and louder.
Almost instantly there was a crowd to see "what was happening"...

Never knew if it was standard Mazda equipment or were I could order it...

I remember a modified honda some 10-15 years back, that had a simular thing installed. It threatened to blow up itself, but never seemed to do so. Pretty cool though, like that computer from Mission Impossible-series, that said it'd be self destructing.

That must have been a Viper alarm, you can buy a speach-module for those, sure to get some attention

Oliver>Yeah home improvements take a lot of time (don't ask me whether my bathroom is finished..). I will be sure to stop by some time. And you are also welcome to come and see my "collection"
What meeting is that actually? I wanted to go to the meeting along with the NSU guys, but I am stripped fo cash and have lots of other things to do. In one week I will go to New York for 2 weeks, won't be in Denmark all of September either.

Aico> wow, very similar to my story - I guess I'm not the only lucky guy around here

It's just a get together in Fyn with the RX club Denmark (17th of Sept) so, it looks like you can't make it.
When you get back, we need to meet up. Have a nice trip in New york !!
