And no, this is not a proposal (well, maybe to start drinking, but don't get your hopes up: I can control myself pretty well; experienced drinker you know!)

Part Six: Erlingur, revisited
I met up again with Erlingur a couple weeks later at his shop. I told him about what the man at the bone yard had to say. He agreed that the guy was way too high in price. He told me that the same car had been offered to him before it was sold to the junkyard owner, but he didn't have the time to bother with it. He said that the junkyard owner paid about 20.000 kr for it, but he knew that it wouldn't go for cheap. Erlingur called the guy while I waited, and offered him 80.000 for it, but no dice. He said the guy asked him if he was alright in the head.
Well, with that issue dead, he told me of a few other 7's he knew of. Apparently the count was somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 sa/fb, 6 fc, and 4 fd. Not that he had seen all of them, but he had heard of them. And, of course, not all of them were on the road.
And, I got a pic of his ride!

Part Seven: The Hidden FD (how appropriate)
(Note: Since I wasn't able to get online last night, I'm just going to go ahead and post the next part tonight as well.)
Just when I thought the story was over, I was surprised by news of yet another 7 in Iceland. As you all noticed here, there was another who was reading this, and replied, from Reykjavík. His name is Biggi, and after talking with him several times over the phone, our schedules finally allowed us to meet.
He wasn't home the first time my g/f and I drove by, but his house wasn't too hard to find. Beside the fact that he gave me good directions, he also had left a message in masking tape as small clue as to which garage held an FD: the windows on the garage read "R X 7"
We came back about two hours later, and Biggi was home. After an interesting adventure finding a parking spot, we were invited into the garage, where Hanna got her first look at an FD in person. We spent the next three hours talking about his cars, my cars, and other 7's in the country. We looked at pics of his car, and some of the other FD's on the island. He showed me the manuals he had printed out, both factory and aftermarket, and other articles and stuff he had on 7's.
The list of other 7's he had come up with, and the information he had on them, was impressive. He knew where they all were, who owned them, and whether or not they were running, and in those cases where they were not on the road, he knew whether it was the engine or a wreck that kept them from being driveable. He was definitely the man to go to with questions regarding FD's in Iceland. He said he had tried a couple times, unsuccessfully, to get the 7 owners together. Hmm, that reminds me of some of my attempts at getting people together in various plaeces in the US. What is it with 7 owners?
Stay tuned for the finale!

Woohow Ren, WE did get together, you know! "We" that's Magnus from Sweden, Kim and Oliver from Denmark, Higgi from the Chech Republic, and me from Belgium, bringing along my dad. And then of course there were those other guys, FD drivers, that I forgot the names of by now, but I still recall those clean cars, with engine bays cleaner then most peoples interiors!
So: WE can get together, it's just those of you who can't shouldn't blame the willing all the time. Get your *** to Le Mans 2004! At last three Belgian RX-7's will be there, and hopefully more!
Anyway, go on with the story, I'm still waiting for a happy end!

And then he said "what is it with RX-7 owners". So this made me come to the conclussion that he means RX-7 owners in general , and therefor over the planet.
Now, am I right, or am I right?
And you Kim, you'll better take me serious! I'm still nr1 European postwhore when it comes by posts per day!

Finale... finally! :)
What follows is the original, unedited text from 31 May 2003. Many things have changed since then, but this is the finale that never saw daylight on the Forum... until now!
I decided to take a trip to Akureyri with Hanna last weekend. Saturday was rainy, so I wasn't feeling great. Topping off the nasty weather was the fact that I had misunderstood the plans for that night, so we weren't going out to dinner as I had thought. I had a good time anyway, though, because we got to spend a couple hours at the community pool, and walk around in the forest (ahh, trees... ). Oh, and I got to see the ONLY FD in the northern part of the country!
We were coming back from pizza when I saw the unimagineable: a black 94 FD with a Supra-style wing. What luck! Thankfully, he was only turning into the gas station directly around the corner, because we would definitely NOT have caught him otherwise (of course, I was my Hyundai again, the one with the special factory option of a no-power engine ).
I actually had brought one of my RX7Club.com t-shirts, as well a RotaryNews.com t-shirt, but, naturally, I wasn't wearing either one All I had was my Mazda ballcap. I had to hope that got me through.
I pulled up, parked, and got out, while Hanna waited with the pizzas. I walked over to the car, and, as casually as I could, introduced myself as a fellow 7 owner. I told him about the Forum (of course, recuiting for the "7-Nation Army" - song by the White Stripes, in case you don't get the reference - is my other job! ), and introduced myself. Ómar (the owner) and I talked a little bit about his car, and Biggi's car. He didn't know of Biggi, and he didn't seem to be too eager to talk to a foreigner about his car, but I managed to talk him into getting some pics and info about the car. It turns out he when bought the car, there was some sort of accident damage to the right side, which he repaired quite well, I must say! The wing and the different rear wheels were on the car when he bought it. It only had 58k miles on it, and I joked that he had about 20k more to go. Other than what can be seen in the pics, everything else on the car is stock. I thought the blue calipers in front were interesting, though I would probably have gone either red or black.
So, that makes 7 total 7's that I've personally seen since I've been here: 1 FB, 3 FC, and 3 FD.
The end?

I've been keeping happily busy with my Mistu's of late. I have 4 Galant VR4's (all from 1991 model year). Mitsubishi really made that engine not only bullet proof, but just too easy to make big power with. AND, they don't use near as much fuel as the rotary.
I do still have the one 1990 GTUs and my 1974 Rotary Pickup, though.
