No,no, I don't have false plates - ever!
But Swiss seems very strange, as they aren't allowed to do many many mods there. A car that wide (Mariah Mode one is 2" wider on each wheelarch) is not allowed there as far as I know. They can't do any engine mods either. There are some backdoors, but a Mariah couldn't pass through those! An FD GTC (Swiss or EU spec FD turned into J-Spec GTC with engine and all) can but, only if you spend a lot of francs on it.
I can't believe there would be a Swiss red Mariah that I haven't seen. But post away!

Ok guys.. lets keep this a RX5 thread....

Here are some more images taken today.

I washed the car before returning it to the garage for some testing..
It's been sitting since 99 but the engine was not stuck. In with some oil and turned it by hand.
In with the battery and it looks like most electric stuff works.

Tried to start it but with nr 8 plugs in and 0 on the temp I just some ignition puffs..
I'll try new plugs tomorrow.

Here are more images.

Toyday I got it running!
Put in some warmer plugs and that did the trick!
The usual "tons of smoke" was there for a few minutes then she ran just fine.
I have not taken here for a testdrive because we got our first snow today.. ****** but the gearbox seems to work ok and the breaks work...

The only thing that happened was that all the instrumensts stopped working after 5 minutes..
The lights in them work but nothing else.. suggestions??

Bart > I have alot to do?? How many projects do you have???

congratulations Magnus, its allways a high to start a motor you dont know anything about.

Could the alternator be screwed up and put out too much power and that caused all the bulps to blow?

Magnus,

Was your car sold new in Sweden? - not all markets got the autobox. The aircon looks aftermarket, does it appear to be dealer-installed when the car was new or is it something newer?

BR,
Bo

All swedish cars had auto, ac and power steering... and Cosmo badges..

The problem with the instruments is that none of the dials work.. rev, fule, temp.. nada.. the lights are ok.. no problem....
Alternator works ok..

BTW.. I'm going to copenhagen on saturday (13:th)... if any of you are close by...

Magnus, well it doesn't sound like a to big thing. The instrument cluster worked and it all shut down at the same time, can't be anything else than a power feed giving out.

Damn, I wish I could do a lucky find like that Manuals should be obtainable from the US? Then again, that is one rare car this side of the ocean

I dont think it's a really big problem, most probably a ground thing.. after all the car has been still for 4 years and most of the connectors I've looked at has been corroded (spelling?).
I know people who have manuals.. just waiting for a copy.. *S*
I've also been told that there are some sort of main fuse at the ignition switch..

Oliver > I'm working on the site at the moment.. it will be similar to the Rx7 one..
I think it will stay silver.. a very nice color.

Anyone know of any cars with 4x120 boltpattern? I cant run around with steelrims!

Well actuallt Lena will be owing the car (until we get married.. next year) and she did not like them.. *s*

At good wheel shops, you can get wheels custom drilled. Not every make/shop offers this posibility, but according to a guy at my working place, who's friend owns a wheel/tyre shop, a lot of makes do. The drilling doesn't cost extra, he said. And some of the wheels are expensive, but some are affordable.

Checked your site. Nice pics, good to hear she's at least rolling! I only know one RX-5, a German one. The car is in a very good condition, and looks really cool. Those cars are so rare!
I think you're looking at a lot of work, though. Obviously, so am I, but since I bought the NSU without any goals set for it, I can take my time. But I guess Lena won't like it if you need two years to fix her car!
Once you're done, just drive it over to Belgium, so you can visit Multirotor and me!
That'd be cool, taking those old four seater rotaries for a ride! His RX-2, your RX-5, my Ro80... Now, let's find a RX-4 for my dad...

4 x 120 ?

I thought all RWD Mazda's before 1984 came with 4 x 110. I have several sets of OEM & aftermarket alloy wheels for 4 x 110 but I have never heard of a car with 4 x 120.

By the way, I am having a set of rotary shaped rims refurbished. They will be hand polished. It will cost me a whopping 150 Euros per wheel ! I'll post pictures when they are ready.

What about a rotary with a usable rear storage space?
