Gas rating in Germany

Hey fellas, I'm coming to Germany in Feb and need to know what kind of Pump gas and race gas they sell over there. Does anyone know the exact octane (I know the method they use to come up with the number is different) from the pump gas? Also, do you know what kind and specifics on the race gas? I'm getting the car tuned and we need the fuel specifics so we can set it up for the gas over there. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Travis

In europe we have 95 RON and 98 RON by standard. now, I have heared that this isn't exactly thesame as in the US. Race gas is not widely available, you'll need to order this.

And the prices.... well, they are not quite as cheap as in the US. 1 liter of Super (98 octane) will cost you about 1.40 euro

Speedworks is right, but he forgot to add that we also get VPower that's 100 RON.Price is crazy...something like 1.60 eur per liter though

And about race gas...you can get anything you want, but you need to order. Here in Italy you can have up to 140 RON race gas... surely it's not cheap nor widely available... but it can be found

In Germany you can get 91 and 95 RON prices are lower then in Belgium or Holland, but 95 will be about 1.35-1.40 per liter right now. 98 isn't as easily available as in Belgium (where 91 is discontinued for ages) but at the bigger pumps it shouldn't be a problem. The higher octane (like VPower) are dependant on which make you use.

In France the "normal" 95 often has a small marking (88RON). Maybe the 88 is what US people are used to ?!

I know they don't mean the same thing but I'm having trouble finding the specific data to do a conversion so I can compare US 98 octane with European RON 98. Anybody happen to have the conversion formula or very specific details on the makeup of the European (Germany specific) fuel? Thanks, Travis

have you searched? there is enough to be found on this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/R...RONMONPON.html

even on this forum too, search on "gas rating PON MON RON octane"

Good luck,

Mireck
