Cody, the doomed FC and the saviour..

Well,

As some of you might know, I got a white 90 FC some time ago.... I managed to get the car to hIGGI, and he rebuilt it, and set it up like a charm.

This happened in the last 4 months.

About half of july, I went to Prague, and got the car home (in Italy , 1000 km trip)

Then, I still do not know why...about 10 days of use and... KO the car won't start anymore.

Me and hIGGI had a big email chat, and I tried my best following his instructions given in emails.

But car won't start anyway.

I was really really pissed...

And then...well.. to make it short, now I in my alley have BOTH my car and a rx7 cabrio... that's from CZ rep.

Yes ladies and gentlemen... the crazy hIGGI agreeded to make a "trip" (I remind you it's a 1000 km trip!!) and come my home to get a look and fix the car!!

Crazy as he is... he took a s5 cabrio from his shop...and came all the way down here with that with a friend (Luciu$ if you know him).

In the car he has a full set of everything that might be broken in my 7...he was almost forced to reduce his own luggage since ...well you know how small is a RX7 luggage comparment

I think I never met such a gentle and crazy person like him

Hail to you hIGGI!!!

Will update on what we find was causing problem later or tomorrow...

Sounds strait. That way I can scratch "Make a road trip in a RX7 on the autobahn" off my list of things to do before I die.

Well.... it seems I am NOT good as a troubleshooter.
You see, first thing hIGGI told me to check and pull from car was the fuel pump...

I did and ...it worked, so put it back...and I thought it was ok...

After a day spent on lotsa other things, he go check...and...well.. the pump was really electrically working and in spec (I fot printed the pages from FSM and it gav right valus of volts and ohms on multimeter)... but in reality the pump was LEAKING BADLY...result?? not enough fuel pressure, so the fuel just managed to start the car when the pump built pressure with engine stopped...and then as soon as more pressure was needed...car was always dead...

SO, actually I learned to look at problems the SIMPLE way first, and then look for FSM, volts, ohms and so on...

I really felt a dumb idiot when problem was found...

Anyway, now I fitted a slightly stronger pump, and so... it runs even better than before...

hIGGI test drove it and was still marvelled about how good car actually rides...o..I am happy owner again now

BTW, after some drifting in hills...we both agreeded, FC need to have almost full tank of gas when sprited driving is done... fuel pump is in bad position so... it tends to have moments in hard turns it won't be sending fuel...and this is BAD!!!Keep this in mind folks

And...yes, I think this is a happy ending...even if higgi left this morinig and still no word on him...but I can bet he is on road with the cabrio, enjoying the trip and everything (I am still a bit worried...anyway not too much, he is not that kind of dumb lost person when it comes to map reading and route planning )

Whow, thats best story I read in weeks

All bow for Higgi! Man you're great

Reminds me of the time I parked the Delorean on a hill with a quart filled tank of gas. We nearly stripped half the engine before figuring out it wouldn't start because the fuel pump couldn't reach the petrol anymore har har har

As for your fuel problem, time to install double fuel pump system, have your fuel pump pump the fuel into a small fuel tank, then have a second fuel pump supply fuel to your engine. That way you can really throw your car around and not have problems with fuel starvation like that..

Owh I'm sorta back I think...

Congrads!

Yeah, we try to keep at least 3/4 tank when tracking FC's.
Fuel slosh sucks!
