wideband and map sensor
A wideband O2 sensor and display is a tuning tool. Like any other tool, some people like it, and some don't. Therefore, there is no particular point at which a wideband O2 sensor is needed. If you just want to monitor your engine while driving, then an inexpensive narrowband O2 sensor and display will work just fine. In my opinion, you don't need a wideband O2 sensor because:
1) If you are asking this question, then you are obviously not a tuner.
2) Your tuner should have his own O2 sensor and display if he likes using them.
3) If your tuner is trying to get you to buy his equipment for him, then you need to find another tuner.
MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) = ambient pressure + boost pressure. Your ambient pressure will depend on the altitude and barometric presssure where you drive your car. The actual range of a given MAP sensor depends on which brand it is, but here is the basic rule of thumb:
1 Bar sensor = Non-turbo engine
2 Bar sensor = Boost up to 15psi / 100kPa / 1Bar
3 Bar sensor = Boost up to 30psi / 200kPa / 2Bar
Whether or not you need to upgrade the MAP sensor also depends on what is currently installed in your EMS (Engine Management System). You can use a higher pressure MAP sensor (assuming the EMS is able to accept it) when running lower boost, but the load band resolution will not be as good, especially if the EMS does not have a load band recalibration function.

Evil, the issue we have here in the UK is that there is not that many tuners that map engines.
The rotary scene here in the UK is very young, and we are still learning a great deal about building and mapping of these cars.

OK, here goes.....
ECU / Reason:
Haltech / Both Jabba and DEMS will supply, but have no experience of rotary engines, and do not want to try and map our engines.
Wolf / No one uses them over here.
Link / I trust Bob Rawle of BRD to tune my Impreza, but he has never tuned a Rotary. I know him well as he was the one that fitted my Link ECU originally.
Motec / Powerstation are the only company listed that have seen rotary engines. Again I know these guys well because of my many years with the Impreza, but I wouldnt have them map my engine (not saying any more). BRD = see Link. G-Tech only want to map on a bench dyno. There is a new company that has the Motec tie up call ReWorx, they know rotary engines well, but the mapping knowledge is young.
We also have Pectel ECUs which are up in the Motec league of ECUs. They offer all the goodies of the Motec M800, but quite a bit cheaper.

Get a PFC man. It's very easy and any guy who tunes any EMS shall tune it right. In Cyprus we've got the same problem that's why most of us put PFC.
It's not rocket science anyway.
You may also wanna buy some 3mm ceramic apex seals if you are not sure, they can widthstand more detonation

Is there a narrow band O2 sensor on the car as standard? If so, how can I plug into it for a display? If not, do I just stick one in the tailpipe?
Basically, I want to check I'm not running lean at any point.
Thanks...
