Why is the Autronic so overlooked???

I think that there needs to be more emphasis on the Autronic equipment. Why are there so limited numbers of rotaries here in the US running it? I assume it has to do with marketing?

I am running a SM2 with the 500 CDI box and the Autronic wideband.

I do not feel the slightest hesistation when the secondaires come on. Idle is rock solid. Does not miss a beat. Smooth power the whole way to 8500 RPM.

And the coolest thing with my setup tuning of the air fuel literally takes a half an hour. You datalog and the ECU tells you which cells to change to match your target air fuel readings. A couple clicks of the mouse and you are done. The datalogging is out of this world when comparing to the competition.

Just thought I'd get that out and see what kind of feedback I get from some other guys using it.

in the past autronic hasn't really tried to enter the US market (i think they were at sema last year though). it's hard enough getting support for the rotary/autronic combination here in Australia. yeh, its a great little ecu and at a great price.

I must admit, I had some hurdles to jump, but now that everything is worked out, I am super happy with it. Many thanks to Enzo and Brian Kennedy.

The Autronic Forum yields fast answers too.

i'm the same, it was a headache installing the sm2 into my car but was very happy with the end results. no help from autronic what so ever, because i had bought it 2nd hand and was looking at running no split they kicked the *****. the forum is good, however i've been banned twice once for speaking my mind on there anti-competitive behavior and the 2nd time because i wished to run no split using the 1.94chip.

so the moral of the story is the ecu is great and if you want support talk to Enzo and the like.

and that is why you will find only ppl who are experienced with ecu tend to be the only ppl who use them

You guys basically summed it up. The Ecu is simply amazing.
Although if your not expenienced with installing stand alones you should seek help from someone who is.
It's not a plug and pray system.

The great news is autronic is going to release some new products soon(hopefully by the end of the year).
The competition better watch out.

I started installation of my SM2 1.49 and R500 today! Autronic is more or less THE ecu to have in Norway

Can any of you guys supply me with a base .cal file?

They are priced significantly more, especially versus the Microtech stuff.

Autronic is trying to break into the US market, but they are not getting anywhere.  They were present at SEMA '03 last year, but I didn't see too much traffic at their booth.

For the price, I think the Haltech E11 is a better deal.

Does the E11 still use the same tuning technology as the E6K?

I went from the E6K to the SM2. The whole approach to tuning is much different, better IMO. Autronic uses volumetric efficiency. I found the tuning method on the E6K cumbersome after experiencing the Autronic method. Not knocking Haltech. Just an opinion.

Docs and even software are available from the Haltech site.

"Different strokes from different folks..."
It's the same argument that Electromotive uses for their TEC-series ECU's.  Now that's a whole nother can of worms...

a smc is a fair amount less than a e11, the SM2 is not far off the price of the e11,

i now which one i would rather put on a car.

I have always equated the Haltech E6X to the Autronic SMC and the Haltech E11 to the Autronix SM2.  I don't think it's fair to compare Autronic's entry-level ECU to Haltech's flagship when talking about price?

Yeah, and I do too.
I bet our answers are not the same either.

so whats your ansers then.....

I need an ecu and have been searching for some time.

I know everyone recommends getting the one with the best local support... but that would mean NONE!!!

I'm in California and locally nobody is installing Haltechs and/or tuning E11s.

Autotronic sounds extremely intresting.

you guys have fairly intense emissions laws in California right? In that case i would stick with something like the autronic, or motec. though the autronic will not run closed loop as to run split timming you need to run the 1.49 chip version (which doesn't have the closed loop feature). but i have heard a new autronic ecu is comming out (though don't get your hopes up for anytime soon) which should take care of closed loop and including electronic oil metering pump control.

if your running a series 6, i would also consider the apexi power fc. apprently it has quite comprehensive closed loop control. a lot of fd owners seem to use these, so you should be able to find a map which closly suits your mods

Is the Haltech E11 the only ecu with oil metering pump control ? I think that is something I am interested about. Emissions on the other hand..... never heard of it!

I hear that there is soon a new chip for the SM2 coming out with rotary support and maybe some new goodies? I think the WRX board is on the front burner from what I have heard.

i don't see your point. the autronic has had the 1.48 & 1.49 chip which caters for most things rotary (except control of the electronic oil metering pump)

So it works with the stock ignition coils and igniters, and requires no modifications or adapters for the CAS?
