Who has Haltech & can help me
Ok i am interested in getting a haltech. I was wondering if any of you who have them could tell me how they are hooked up? I am not buying a stock ECU so does that work still? How does this system hook up to your car........ Does it replace the existing wiring harness? how does the module hook up to the existing connections? Is it easy to tune or do you have to know what you are doing and be some sort of computer wiz?

Well yes i am a "rookie". I am only 17 but I am capable of wiring things up. as for tuning maybe. I want to do this as a project to learn more about my car and about things in general.

1) You need decent experience with automotive wiring.
2) You need a decent grasp of fuel injection and engine control systems.
I doubt you have either.  I don't like to be stereo-typical, but when I was 17, there was no way I could understand what the hell was going on.

No, you don't have to be a computer wiz, but yes you do need to know how to fabricate some wiring. I hope you know how to solder. You also need to know how fuel injection/engine management systems work; the more the better.
Yes you can run it without the stock computer. I ripped out the whole computer and wiring harness in my 90. This required me to run a new wire to the water temp sensor to get the gauge to work, and my alarm doesn't work now, so that's something I'll have to investigate.
If you plan on doing this yourself get a factory manual with wiring diagrams. I've decided this item is a must for any RX-7 owner.
