OEM ECU tuning
Hi fellows,
I've sneaked around and find nothing about the Mazda's ECU tuning.
It does manage the RE, so why goin' complicated with MS or such?
So, why, who, what and how some of did or didn't tuned their ECU?
Do you have binaries or improved maps, some software to work on it and key values?
Another question, what is the real price of an aftermarket EFI management?
When real it's real, including adapters, sensors or such must buy extras.
Thanks and I'll go anyway to ECU tuning first!

Beside use a wideband 02 sensor to seek power I don't see what's more on an aftermarket EMS setup.
If some can tell, and some who worked on ECU also... maybe I should have told I'll go for extra whp for... no money! Just want to get the hidden hp from OEM stuff for now.

Up.
If some (Ted?) may help me...
I have no money for my car (bought her 1.500€ with full RB exhaust line, reinfored clutch, new brakes...), I want to learn about engine management, I want the best power possible for free. (In fact I plan to buy a good intake to replace my airbox, this may give good hp with the RB stuff).
First, is the knowledge of ECU tuning lost? And I'll have to dig for hours to find the tables and key values, is there a software to see the key datas and modify it?
The stock ECU manages the engine quite well, but I think the only good thing with an aftermarket EMS is that it can tune the a:f ratio to a target value (means wideband O2 wich meany money...) where the OEM ECU just follow a table and does not care the real a:f.r.
Is it the point?
The fact it won't be easy is not a problem, the fact it's expensive is. Will a cheap EMS (MS?) work with stock harness and sensors? (let's say that the O2 sensor will be changed for a wideband one...)
How much for a complete'n cheap EMS? Maybe a used one... (BTW my ECU is a used one .
May I sucide?

You can get a Megasquirt I v3.0 with a harness for like $350. Its not idiot friendly (PnP), but theres alot of guys running them successfully.
You can rough tune it with a narrowband sensor, and then either get it tuned by someone or drop $200 on the Innovative wideband. Even with a "rough" tune on a standalone, most engines run smoother than with the stock ecu.
Idle is rock solid, and theres a good amount of power available by simply tuning a stock car.
