mounting laptop?

What do guys mount your laptaps on/with? I tried leaving mine in the seat but it does work when making quick stops or sharp cornering. My laptop didnt cost but 100 buck but I just hate to see it sling agianst the dash or floor board.

Tuning is much easier with a friend in the passenger seat holding the laptop. That way it doesn't sling around, and you can keep your eyes on the road.

I really wish some of the other EMS makers would understand the value of a hand controller.

There is a guy on here who bought a stand that mounts in the car off to the passenger side. It doesn't impede passenger comfort and it keeps the laptop from flying around in the car. Its made by the same people who make laptop mounts for cop cars. I can't find the thread but I'll keep looking. Its a pretty cool unit.

Check out this link

Go to a search engine like msn.com or yahoo or some thing and do a search for "laptop car mounts" or something similar.

I'm working on an idea that might solve the whole problem...

In this thread : Computerized Gauge Cluster

You could then just open up the programm from the Display, the question is, most ECU programms are XL-Spreadsheet type Based and how ledble will the values be... but then again, I'm thinking that is is more of a FC-Commander kind of what are my Values kind of thing rather than a hard core tuning tool...
Resolution is very crisp... I just have my concerns when using you finger as a mouse at 1024X760 you might select some cells you didn't want to...

The newer EMS products have a Windows-based GUI.

This is a link to the Haltech E11 software. The Microtech LT, and Wolf3D have similar software.

Right what I was refering to is... put your finger onto the monitor on this image and see how wide your finger print is in refernce to the cells in the bottom... which is an "Excel" Type Interface.... where you make your adjustments...

It might be 1) Difficult to see those values.
2) possibly impossible to make accurate selections...

the plus is if you just want to make rough turn boost op 1/2 PSI you can (in AEM) pull up one value size it as big as you want and make adjustemnts...

And the sceen in my previous e-mail is a VGA monitor with sub-d connector, so you can just plug your laptop into the screen mounted into your dash, and then when you want your tuner to do some serious tuning disconnect and use the laptop's display...

Also the screen is USB, and would need no Keybord emulation with either Onscreen KB or Voice emulation... or possible bluetooth keyboard....

Ah, I see. Well, in that case, why don't you just make a hand controller for the E11 and Motec computers?

Cause you haven't payd attention to me

I'm the Only Idiot still on the AEM Bandwagon, for 3 reasons...

1) I don't like XS Engineering, and their "Monopoly" on PFC

2) I don't like the remote commander, to proprietary, and for that matter so is all the PFC stuff... besides the Datalogit, which isn't Apexi...

3)I'd like to be able to setup a laptop like the thread states, and now that I've gotten interested in upgrading my FD to include GPS, I though that this is the perfect vehicle to get 3 Cool things...

1) Controll the AEM, and put up custum dashes, with all the gauges I wish I had...

2) Get a nice GPS system / Software with Voice recognition, and

3) get a whole bunch of Mp3's and a radio controlled by a pc... not to mention Wi-Fi to download content from home, when I'm parked at home...

I have a "gooseneck" from this company http://www.sdi.cc/ for my PFC commander. It mounts on the tunnel below the console plastic (so no holes visible). It does not interfere with removal of the console plastic either. They also do laptop mounts, but they look like lots of mods. to vehicle and ugly! Pic attached. It's from when I was working on my audio system, which is now complete so the ugly holes in dash are now filled with beautiful (expensive) electronics .
