Looking for ECU upgrade

I was set on the Power FC up to now. I seriously looking at the Haltech. My only question now is will my car still have the 3k hesitation and will the Haltech make the car run as smooth as the Power FC claims. I see pricing is about the same and the Haltech looks like it is more upgradable for controlling other components such as N2 and fans and stuff. Can I use the Haltech as a boost controller also or will I need a seperate controller? Please give some input because I plan to buy within a week. Also I'm going to be changing out my IC to a bigger one, new dp, mp and pulleys. Maybe this will help.

If you use the Haltech to completely replace the stock ECU, then you'll lose the 3k hesitation as its a problem with the ECU. Since you can control everything on the engine, you can make it run as smooth or as rough as you want its all in the tuning. For boost control, you can use the Haltech to control boost solenoids, but even Haltech says its not very good - go with a seperate boost controller. Big thing to keep in mind is that you will need to start premixing your gas with the Haltech unless you leave the stock ECU on to control the OMP, or install a mechanical OMP.

The Power FC can control fans and other things but some of those extras are programmed by the Power XL software. If you want to have some of that stuff tuned I'd get the Power FC from XS Engineering as they seem to have the more experience tuning the Power FC and they have the Apexi software.

The haltech isnt going to control boost the way the PFC does. So keep in mind that extra expense for a high quality boost controller.

I just sent my Power FC to XS to have them tune it and adjust my fans, ect... I'm going to be hitting the dyno very soon as well and I'll post how it turns out.

The only thing the Haltech does that I wish my Power FC did is data logging. That would be sweet. There are a few guys working on data logging for the PFC over in the PFC section. They are developing the hardware and software needed.

No matter what ECU you get the engine will run smoother without any 3k hesitation. The Haltech runs slightly smoother than the PowerFC, yet you have to rewire it and find a solution for lack of oil metering pump control . . . that means mechanical conversion, pre-mix, or wire the stock ECU with the Haltech to control all of the emissions equipment as well as the oil metering pump. By wiring in the ECU you will NOT affect the smoothness of the engine. It will just cost a little bit more $$.

Are you sure about that? I think you'd be correct if you allowed the stock computer to continue to control fuel and timing, but if a person did that, why bother with the Haltech? To get the Haltech and and the stock ECU working correctly at the same time requires two ignition modules to be added so that both computers see that the engine is operating (necessary for the stock ECU to control boost properly) - BUT you would have the Haltech controlling the functions that cause that 3k hesitation to occur with the stock ECU, thus eliminating it.

Were you able to get XS to tune it without a dyno with them? Is this accurate enough if it can be done and how much did it cost?
