I need some TEC II Help!

Here is my situation.....I am putting a 13 B into an old Austin Healey Sprite. I am using a stock 88 13B with a gsl-se front cover. The original efi won't fit under the hood so I am going with a TWM throttle body and the side draft manifold. I have a TEC II management system, but have a couple of concerns. The kit I bought came with the wheel but the mounting bracket for the sensors requires the removal of the oil metering pump. I don't want to run premix, so this is creating an issue.

I was hoping for a couple of things, any ideas where I can source a crank sensor bracket? Any idea on engine maps for a TEC II to get me started? Or should I send the TEC II to ebay and buy a SDS or something else? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It is possible that you have a bracket that is intended for a different car. Contact Electromotive to verify that you have the correct bracket. Also note that they started using an improved 60-2 wheel in 1999, so you may want to upgrade if you have the old wheel.

Where did you buy the TEC unit from? A dealer?

You will need to get a bracket from Electromotive or fabricate one yourself. You shouldn't have to necessarily remove the OMP but you may have to extend the crank wheel forward and the corresponding sensors forward to give clearance.

Selling the unit and buying something else isn't going to necessarily help you if you are having problems already at this point, thus why I was asking about a dealer, i.e., professional, to help you with the base map, install, etc.

There are base maps out there but you don't "have" to have them, you can come up with your own inputing some basic information into the WinTec software that you can download the most up to date version from Electromototive as well. Just make sure you go rich and don't advance the timing and it will be fine for idle and to get started with tuning assuming you have an EGT, A/F, fuel pressure guage, etc, to do so safely.

I bought the unit from a dealer, unfortunately he is now out of business. I purchased it in 2001, so the wheel should be correct.

PM me if you need a basemap, or you can DL the wintec3 software, it has a wizard that works great for rotary. Although the bin file won't be backwards compatible, if gives you good starting points for your fuel line as well as a good timing map, you should be able to get it to start with just that. The tec2 is kinda an outdated ecu, I still run it and i know two other guys locally who do and its worked very well for all of us once all the bugs are worked out. I'd stick it out since you already have it. If you need dimensions for a bracket that will clear the OMP i can probably help there also.

I'll download the software, that should be pretty simple. I talked to TriPoint in California, they can build a bracket for me for $250. That should get me going anyway. I appreciate the help.
