Haltech vs Tech II

Hi everyone of the wankle world.
I'm looking for a stand alone fuel/ignition managment, but i don't have a clue which of the two (Haltech or TechII) is a better one. All i know is that both units are being use by top racers. I hope someone out there has a chance to work on both units (truly) and can recommend to everyone not just myself. Thank

Just make damn sure you order from some one who has the Haltech in stock or you'll be waiting for 6 weeks +. I would reccomend joining the Hitmans E-mail thingy on Yahoo. It's a great resource if you ever need help with tech info. I started reading it and have the E6K on order (5 weeks now).
The Tec III should be out soon and might be worth a look too. I just got the Haltech because Motec was too much money and Haltech offerd great features. Now I am thinking of going with a Stack LCD screen for my gauges too.
If I had it to do over I would order from Matt the Hitman and **** Haltech USA! Matt will save you about 300 bux after shipping and still have it to you 4 or 5 weeks ahead of the Texas ********. You won't get any better support than Matt for tech info anyway.

Damnit, I just read my post above and it sounds like I'm pissed! I just don't want anyone else to go ordering a Haltech from a local guy and expect to get it in a week. If you really want one then make sure it is in stock. I researched all the options as to which was the best, I just forgot to research where to buy!

Ok I'm at a loss ............do the math for me, as the Hitman won't sell in austrailian dollars(because of Haltech USA),so he will cut you a small deal and include shipping, how do arrive at $300?........ my impression is you will get decent support from him........

I am talking about the savings as opposed to what I paid my local dealer. The difference from what I paid to Matts quote was almost 300 dollars. Which is not all that important until you also consider I paid for something I still don't HAVE!!!!! If I had gone through Matt I'd have the ******* thing installed by now and be doing burnouts instead of wasting time in here!!!

Ok, if the stupidity is all mine then I apologize in advance......If you would have saved $300USD from the Hitman then either one of two things happened .....
a) you are getting a smoking good deal off the Hitman(my quote was nowhere near) or
b) The outfit you purchased from is/has charged you more then the US retail price
.........choose a), b), or none of the above

i think the techIII is going to be pretty hot. however, the reason i went with the haltech and still think its a good decision is that there's such an active users group and forum where you can get your questions answered quickly and easily. motec doesn't have this and the PFC (aside from my hearing it was being discontinued) doesn't have data logging and doesn't let you set absolute timing and fuel, but percentages. also, doesn't have the ability to control as many external devices.

I thought about waiting for the TEC 3, but the major difference--to me at least--is the remote coils, which helps you to avoid mounting the whole unit under the hood...that and the new one will be purple.:p I was told by Electromotive that the main difference is more outputs to control things, such as the sequential turbo system on FD's. I suppose that the processor is a little quicker, and maybe you have more mapping points.

I haven't fired up my car yet--still waiting to drill the crank wheel--but I've checked out the software. The Wintec 2 software is pretty easy to deal with. I don't think that I'll have any major problems tuning the car, unless I want 800 RWHP.

Ok to answer the question to your post I would go with the Haltech over the TECII. Yes Wintec loks pretty good, but it is still in R&D. Someday Haltech will release the HalWin software. Any ideas on when that is guys? BUT if I had to do it all over again I would get the FJO enterprises 341B EMS. It isnt well known here but is in Canada. Here is a link to the site

http://fjoinc.com/automotive/products.htm

It can have a wide band O2 sensor on it for only $190 when you order your EMS. Also you have WAY more outputs, WAY easier tuning, and alot of other GREAT features. The only disadvantage is that it costs a grand more than the Haltech. BUT it is worth it if you can spare 1k more on your car. Shoot them an email. They will respond to any question you have. Good Luck.

I just wondered into the RX7Forum after a long absence and find you guys droping my name :-)

If anyone needs any help with Haltech purchasing just drop me a line (hitman@hitman.hm) and I will work everything out for you. I have been hearing alot lately about the long delays in getting products direct from Haltech. When dealing with me, most orders arrive on your doorstep anywhere in the world around 7 days from the date of the order being placed so I don't tend to have those issues. In teh worst case it may take a few days longer if I am out of stock of something.

The fact that Haltech is taking so long to ship reflects more that they have been completely swamped with orders because the E6K system does work so well, rather than them being slack on the job. Anyone questioning them should drop by their shop and see how busy things are.

Unfortunely my website is slow or even unreachable from time to time so please persist. I am hoping to switch to a faster server in future. I am also about to open up a private webpage (passworded) for my customers that have purchased their ECU through me, which will have new updates available for download and a sneak peak at future updates as they progress. Just one of the things I am try to improve even more in with regards to customer support.

Any further questions just drop me an email at
hitman@hitman.hm easy to remember....

hey matt is it worth paying the extra money to ge the E6k
or is the F9 just as good

Ive heard of rotaries running 8's with the F9

besides being able to controll the ignition from a laptop
whats the advantage of the e6k over the f9

E6K is Fuel and Ignition, F9 is Fuel Only.

I just switched from an F9 and stock ECU controlling ignition to E6K doing the whole lot. Do yourself a favour and get the E6K if you are running an FC3S (series 4/5, 86-91). It will run the stock coils and use the stock crank angle sensor.

If you are going to use a distributor for the igition (not the stock ECU ignition), you can use the F9 and get good results, but if the ECU is used you won't get the ability to advance the ignition to the best point for maximum power as simply.

Hope this helps.
