Was gonna buy a PFC but now considering M2 ECU...

Hi guys,

I was wondering what all of you think about my planned mods. I was thinking about buying an Apexi PFC, but then I started looking at M2 ECUs. I have been weighing all of the pros and cons, and I wanted to know what you all thought of my mods list and I wanted to know what you guys think of the M2 ECUs.

I was planning on running a lightly modded FD until I can get a T66 or T78 later on down the road (1-2 years). But for now here is what I had in mind:

91 octane @ 12 PSI

-Apexi N1 (already have it) might swap for a Apexi GT
-2 HKS filters (already have it)
-M2 downpipe
-Greddy elbow
-Greddy 2 Row
-bigger injectors (what size?)
-M2 ECU (buy a spare ECU and get it burned)
-SAFC
-EBC (Apexi AVCR?)

Now the reason I was thinking go with M2 is because they are in Concord and that is only 30-45 minutes away. I'm also guessing that with the M2 I would want to fine tune the A/F on a dyno, which is why I have the AFC up there.

I'm shooting for a HP goal of 300-325 WHP, but it might not be possible with the mods I have listed. Also are there any additional mods you guys think I should have (J&S?)

My goal is to have a good low 12 second car (1/4) on street tires, and right now I am going through the engine mods needed. Later on I will probably get a KAAZ, stickier tires, and clutch.

TIA

1. You can't run higher flowing injectors with the M2 ecu. You wouldn't need to anyway for only 12 psi.

2. I wouldn't trust my engine with the fuel tuning capabilities of the S-AFC. It's too crude and low resolution.

3. There is NO way in hell you will hit 325 RWHP (SAE) with only an intake, downpipe, exhaust, and intercooler at 12 psi. You may hit 300 RWHP though, but with an older stock cat and stock-ported motor, who knows.

4. Even if you bought an M2 used, the purchase price of the ecu and the S-AFC is starting to get pretty close to the price of the Power FC, which you will have to buy anyway if going single later on.

5. Hitting low 12s with those mods will be damn near impossible. I believe SPOautos ran a 12.3 with the same mods and a midpipe on drag slicks. However, we know the midpipe adds a LOT of horsepower over a stock cat when the car is tuned for it.

My 2 cents.

Bigger Turbo

If you plan on upgrading to a bigger turbo T66 or T78 be prepared to start shelling out the dough. I have a T78, you will need upgraded fuel pump, upgraded secondary fuel rail, 1300-1600cc secondary injectors not to mention all of the standard ****, wastegate, intake, manifold, oil lines, block off plates etc.

I have a PFC it is one of your only chances if your are going to go single, plus you can get a boost controler for it and then you can adjust to however much boost you want.

my 3 cents.
