free engine/ afetrmarket EFI or sumthin?

i have a 88 n/a engine that i got for free from some retard with a dream that died short (upper and lower intake manifold and all emissions removed and some cut wires here and there) eek

anyways

all that came with was a bunch wires all over and the ratsnets destroyed blah blah blha ect....

at first i did some searching for a carb convesion.. then i read about all of ya 2nd gen guys bashin all who brought it up.. and ya made some good points....

so to make a simple questions.... im lookin for a aftermarket EFI kit and such... like atkins or sumthin similar except i dont want to spen 2300 on it.... i read somethin about a kit for 1200 but dont remember where.....

any help to get this engine running soon would be great.... emissions leagal or not i dont really care ..

thanks ahead for any help ya can give

peace

The Microtech LT8 sells for about the same price as a carb kit. The LT8 is the updated version of the MT8 shown on the Atkins website. You can browse our ECU forum for more information on the Microtech LT8 and other products.

Yeah, I moderate all of the super-secret sections.

There is no official Microtech web site as far as I know, but here are links that have some info on the new LT series:

i am very fearfull of wires.. they are not my friends

plus my rats nest is none existent.. i searched through the box of stuff.... and i still have all the injecttors and connection and 5 and 6 port
actuators and the stock CPU and harness blah blah

i still have the upper and lower intake..but what other options do i have.. or should i just stick with what i got

as you can see i am lost looking for direction

oh an i guess i should have mentioned this earlier.... this is going into a 88 mazda B2000 (truck)..... i already fashioned some motor mount and have it sitting in the engine bay

LOL, OK, you are off to a good start. What you should do is NOT buy a Haltech, but rather go to one of your local Haltech dealers and buy it through them and get a package deal that includes installation and tuning. It will probably be cheaper than buying the Haltech somewhere else and then taking it to them for installation and tuning later, and it is certainly cheaper than if you try to install it yourself and end up with a blown engine or a door stop that is beyond your comprehension.

When you go to order the Haltech from your local dealer, take all that stuff in a box and show it to them, and they can tell you what to work on before they perform the installation and tuning. You may want to bring a notepad and some masking tape to mark various items. BTW, don't go cheap. If they say you need new parts, you should buy them (unless the dealer is totally crooked, lol).

slowly understanding haha

dammit... im a do it your self kinda guy.....

and i have like no cash to really put in this...
i kinda made up a 1500-2000 dollar limit ( to start... not over all haha) which i relize may be a bit low to evryone here but its what i got..

i know i said im fearful of wires...but i am a fast learner..and thats kinda why i started this project on the side " to learn"

i was tryin to simplify it all to my self...... correst me if im wrong ( cause im honestly just guessin

use the trucks computer to run all the non gizzmos in the truck like lights and speedo and tach and accesorries.....

use a haltech to run the engine... sucha as EFI and emmisions and related things... also with the haltech set up i canlose the air pump right? and most of ratsnest? ( it doesnt have to be emmisions legal, just run right)

thanks Evil Aviator for all your help..and any in the future
