From what ive heard AEM is still working out some bugs for the rotary. The system itself is great as i have a friend running it on his honda. Personally i wouldn't get it being that theres still a learning curve with it....(not just rotarys). I would rather a system that is proven and the support is also proven.

People seem to have some problems setting up the AEM to idle and for it to pick up the CAS correctly. Nothing that isn't easily fixed, but not out of the box success everytime. Personal recommendation would be for you to use the ECU that has the most support for you.

AEM Doesn't have bugs, they worked all the AC issues out Months, if not a year ago... and that's the only bug I know of...
The ECU needs to get tuned, it's not a Power FC that you can just slap in and go... kind of deal... but it's a very capable unit, that can hadle all the stock sensors, and has room for:

EGT Inputs
Wideband AFR
Two Knock Inputs
Onboard Knock Retardation, with individual controll.
Extra Injectors, as well as Larger Injectors.

Auto Tuning feature which I'm not impressed with, but It can mimic the Ease Power FC Setup, by just tuning for a specific AFR and let the car slowly learn where the fuel needs to be... So if you don't have a tuner and you have a technical mind, you can wrap your head around how the ecu works, this will get you to the AFR that you want... but it's not a tuner in a box... a Tuning Expert will likely get you more HP...

As well as a yet mysterious, semi conveluted traction controll module, that I have not had the oppertunity to evaluate, or test...

Two Reasons I own one...
1) I want factory supported software, to tune my ecu, myself or take it to any capable tuner and not be stuck with the shop the manufacturer dicides on.
2) I have local support, AEM is literally 20 Miles away from me..

3 Things to concider:

1) Find a tuner that knows Rotary Motors and the Ecu you're gonna pick.
2) Get a wideband
3) See Rule 1

Im surprised that noone has mentioned Haltech yet. Well I absolutely love my Haltech E11. All the bugs in version 1 are nonexistant now and the V2 is awesome. If you can afford it, the E11 surpasses the AEM and PFC. But no wars about whats better...just go for what is supported in your area and what will suit your personal needs. Good luck deciding on a EMS.

Haltech is nice, no doubt, what caused me to vear away, was the fact that you had to pay someone to re-wire your car, (untill the adaptors cae out) and I couldn't find a good tuner that lived in the US... The one that was reccomended to me lived in Aus. and would fly out, if there were a couple of cars willing to get tuned... and I just couldn't see myself waiting for my car to get tuned for 6+ mo.

Before this turns into a dyno queen war, I would like to point out that peak horsepower has nothing to do with an EMS, but rather the tuning and the matching of the other engine components.

For example, a poorly-tuned $10,000 Motec is not going to make as much peak horsepower as a well-tuned $200 Megasquirt fuel computer. Perhaps this is more obvious, but a well-built bridgeported engine with a GT turbo, balancing, etc., is going to make more peak horsepower than a stock non-turbo 150,000mi engine with the same EMS and tuner.

The main advantage of an EMS is accurate fuel metering and ignition timing throughout the rpm range, load range, and transients. Unfortunately, this is not a very tangible subject for comparison.

It looks fine to me, just as long as the bugs are worked out. Make sure you buy it through an approved dealer, and have them install and tune it so that they are responsible for any blown engine, and not you. That pretty much goes for any EMS.
