Any HKS FCON PFC users going non-sequential?
I'm getting nowhere with HKS and few if anyone here use the piggy-back HKS PFC-FCON ecu. The deal is I went non-sequential turbo last week and now build total boost at 3,000rpm at a whopping 7psi all the way to redline. Is the ROM or fuel map included in the FCON not compatible with non-seq and do I need to use the ROM for the single turbo heavy-modded FD? Is it leaning out where the second turbo transition should be? Is the stock ECU in limp-home mode at 7 psi?
I'm pretty concerned about detonation.
I think I better rip the FCON out and use a boost controller before I grenade the engine, agree?

mmm...k, lemme ask this....
Are any piggy back ECU's (M2, etc.) with preset fuel maps/ROM compatible with the non-sequential mod? Does a piggyback ECU trip the stock ECU default of 7psi limp-mode if it does not detect the 4500 rpm transition?

i think twinturboteddys red car was running an m2 ecu, i know it was non sequential, if you are only running 7 psi you may want to take the fcon out and see if it changes anything. i looked at my fcon harness (88 t2) and the only thing it sees its the fcon map sensor, and the injectors. btw what would koby think of the non sequential mod??

so i take it that he wouldn't mind?
actually the other koby (the short one) gave you enough fuel to make a lot of power http://www.newwave.net/~flanham/wlan.../3modrule.html
hks can also burn you a custom chip for that fcon too.

youre playing with fire huh? well..the prob with those ecus that you are looking at is that they are not really tuned for "your" car. Sure they will dump some more fuel but do they dump enuff where you need it?
you are probably ok...I ran my car without detonation on a streetport, intake dp and catback with the stock ecu.(not that it was smart) I did not at any time experience damage to my apex seals from modding my car or later when I ran the gforce and 13lbs of boost. all my probs came from temps..not running lean
Id think that you are running leaner between spoolup and maybe 5k...after that you are running fine Im sure because that is closer to what your ecu is tuned for...its that full boost at 3200 that its not tuned for...I DO KNOW that when I got my ecu from XShit that it was incorrectly tuned for non seq and I got so much detonation that my bank shuddered. be careful my friend. you saw my experiences with them...even if they say its tuned it may not be...you really would have to look at the fuel maps yourself and see what the numbers are and where the numbers are rich.
I doubt youre running lean at 7lbs...go get a boost controller from home depot....set it up...it will help you control spikes...and it will only cost you twenty bucks...its an easy install too...On my car I use the next size larger hoses and let the valves control the boost.
i called brett at m2 and asked him about their maps with non seq...they cringed at the thought of you doing non seq with their ecu. I speak with them on almost a daily basis lately and they are very helpful...but honestly your options are the pfc, the haltech, the autronic, or the motec (also known as the ecu that wives hate...EXPENSIVE).
the pfc cant be tuned worth as **** around here unless you are only planning on running base maps and not many more mods than ya now have..and Im not liking its idle hunting...but it will give you the control you need.
the haltech will be a pain to install or so Ive heard but at least you can find dyno shops to tune it.
the rest are pricey and such.
good luck

you can also call kenny at stillen..he has an rx and knew some things about the fcon back when I was looking at it. you may get some help from him...he has a modded 93 as well.
if ya ask me...Id get the boost controller...run your boost...take it to a wideband...get one run in...see if its lean...if not then you are good to go....that will cost ya 150 and maybe then you will be ok and not need to spend for the PosFC and or the Haltech.
its worth checkin into...before ya find out in the pessimistically hard way.

Thanks Jason. I have a Greddy Profec-b ready to install(even pre-wired thru the firewall, stepping motor mounted, and golf-teed vacuum line under the column. Then boost went 12-0-0 a few days later.
No vacuum/coupler leaks, I checked.
So I did the non-sequential. Pulls smooth and strong.. to 7 psi max, with a 6k hesitation/hiccup. I might just yank the HKS FCON and go stock ECU, then finish off the boost controller install.
