89 engine ecu harness in 88 body

89 engine ecu harness in 88 body
i have complete engine harness from a 89 and the ecu .when i removed it from the parts car the far right plug in the ecu feeds from the dash harness, so i clipped a few inches from where it enters the dash harness. Question, can i splice that into the 88 dash harness and be good to go or do i need to pull complete dash harness from the 89 also to run the 89 motor? this will be a track car only if it matters.

My friend did it. He put a 90 motor and harness in an 88. I helped him out with it. We used the shop manuals for each car to figure out the wiring. If you don't have them you can download them from http://www.fc3s.org . You'll want to look at the fuel and emissions sections.
