looks slick, but get some cap screws for god sakes. It's the details man! lol

ROTARY_ADDICT-1 12-25-16 05:13 PM

how much hp does this intake add ? Any dyno numbers before and after with this set up ?

Nateness 12-26-16 11:17 PM

Also interested in more data. Would be great to have the option of having a "blank" branded upper intake manifold rather than the branded version for those looking for a more understated engine bay appearance.

We will have all the data of before and after, in January Mr. Howard Coleman is having one installed on his car right now. The perfect person to test the intake system, Also Ihor from IRP is currently installing one on his Shop RX7. Plus everyone else that has purchased one,We do know our intake system is 46% larger than a stock FD Intake system as shown in the pictures below. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...5fa794ce9b.jpg

Customers send us pictures of their intake when they bling them up, and this one has to be one of my favorites so far.

Shouldn't you guys have been the perfect people to test this intake system? Do you have any before and after data from the development process?

So guys I just received my Elite intake manifold and I have to admit it is one damn solid product. I only had 1 complaint about the intake manifold but everything else seemed to look good. In my opinion there is no other intake manifold on the market that even compare to this one! It has so many unique features that allow for the best performance possible. I was too lazy to type out a long review so i just made a simple video instead with a few pictures to go along with it. My car probably will not be running for a month or 2 to test it but hopefully this helps.

Howard and Ihor are both highly respected in the community, and would serve as unbiased 3rd parties. Isn't that the ultimate test vs. what the manufacturer claims? I think they made a smart move letting these guys speak for the product.

Aaron,

my compliments to you for a helpful and objective non-affiliated report re the Elite manifold.

i do think you correctly zeroed in on one aspect of the manifold that immediately struck me as significant... the crucial 90 degree radius from downward and into the port. neither the stock or Ground Zero/Excessive efficiently negotiate this important bend. Elite nails it.

another aspect is the primary side of the manifold. while the BREW is the high water point as to the 2 rotor and has so many advances over the prior iterations i have always felt that Mazda unduly penalized the primary side.

both the primary runners, 30 mm!, and the tiny intake ports were probably designed by the same guy who came up w the OE twin turbo manifold that is so restrictive it cracks cast iron.

i spend lots of time opening the primary intake port... ideally you want equal airflow from both sides of the rotor combined w minimized restriction.

the Elite manifold design greatly facilitates primary flow.

the area of the OE 30 mm runner is 1.09 square inches

the area of the Elite primary runner is 2.07 square inches.

while i am not quite on the dyno i do have some comparative experience w the stock FD Upper/Excessive lower versus the Cosmo which is similar but not as advanced as the Elite.

my CPR motors when properly supported and tuned generally run well to about 8950 and at that point it is probably time for another gear.

the Cosmo manifold on my motors moves the shift point to 9500 so it seems like there's another 500 RPM in the manifold. power was exceptional, 614 SAE at 25.5 PSI on a GT4094r.

i will be very interested in the torque curve as midrange is as important as top end if you are planning to win the race.

2017 is going to get interesting.

Howard

Idea to ponder over...

If you produced a small test run of FC lower to FD Upper mating manifolds then that would corner the market on guys using an FC Lower and then having to buy an adapter piece to mate the FD upper Manifold!
I am sure they would be scooped up if the word got around!

I second this as well. I have already gotten my hands on a FD upper, but the lower still requires a bunch of work in the runners outside of the FD upper adapter. If I had even runners without hacking up a stock unit more than I already had, i would be happy.

I think a nice addition to the lineup would be FC Turbo II lower that mates perfectly to this upper for a true REW upper conversion (TB flows better as well).

It would be a nice product at $700 and can feature the same 4 injector bungs as this does.

Yep. Same here. I personally prefer a s5 lower that mates to the FD UIM, both from an aesthetic view and the dynamic pressure intake system. The latter should in theory provide better off boost and low-mid range torque than a large plenum style manifold (indeed that was Mazda engineers were going for if you read their SAE article on it). The limited evidence I have seen backs this up - see eg this thread https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...fc-uim-655708/ which demonstrates that peak power was unaltered with FD UIM over FC, but the FD setup had a broader torque curve and more mid-range power. The weakness with the FD system is the lower intake manifold, in particular where it meets the engine. But there is a lot to like about the FD upper intake manifold, plus the FD throttle body is superior to the Cosmo 13B-RE throttle body (50mm vs 45mm diameter secondaries) (yes I realise this manifold allows you to use an FD throttle body, which is great!).

Very interested to see how this product performs. With the much better flowing primaries, I would not be surprised to see improved higher rpm performance but this may come at the expense of low-mid range compared to a FD intake.

In all black...it looks sooooooo pretty!! Im really digging it:)

with the FD throttle body and greddy elbow, does it clear the oil fill tube? will it line up to my existing intercooler pipe?

does it use the FD idle speed control ISC?

Thats more like it!

(needs more washers as well)

I got answers for these, when using FD throttle body and Greddy elbow:

No ISC, must use manual idle

Needs spacer for the greddy elbow (or custom elbow) to get same placement as with REW UIM.

So, for the guys that have received theirs already, what kind of turn around did you guys experience? I put in my order 3 weeks ago and can't log in to their site to review the status of my order, so I emailed them a few times and still haven't heard back.

Also, how are you guys working out idle control with these manifolds? Pictures with solutions? I'd really appreciate it.

Ordered in October, still waiting. I have the same issue accessing the site.

neit_jnf 02-13-17 05:46 AM

They take their time, I message them on facebook and they usually answer the same day with status.

For idle I plan to try a couple things, first and easiest is just run manual idle.

Another option is to make the OEM ISC solenoid external by using a ISC block off plate with a couple 1/8 npt fittings and run a hose to connect the elbow to one of the vacuum ports on the UIM that way.

Any plans on doing a 20b UIM/LIM?

We definitely have been considering 20b Products

EliteRotaryShop 02-21-17 11:23 PM

Knowing not everyone needs to run 4 secondary injectors, we will be offering aluminum Injector plugs with o-rings for guys that only need two secondary injectors

neit_jnf 02-22-17 09:14 AM

I tapped mine with 1/4 npt threads and plugged it. I only threaded the lower id of the injector port so that the sealing surface is not affected and I can add injectors later if i wish.

this is a pic of my xcessive LIM but it's the same with the Elite
