where to move?!?!?!?

I have wanted to get into drifting for a long time now. I have the car for it, but no place to practice! Im in north florida now... im looking to move somewhere very soon, cause there is really nothing here.
I guess im just looking to see if anyone knows a good place where the drift scene is a decent size, and a good place to learn?

I almost went to nashville, but just read the superspeedway is closing their doors! So now Im lost! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks

I work at AT&T and can transferr pretty much where ever I want, so i just gotta find someplace!!

California has some awesome tracks but the car legality versus Cops sucks *****.

AZ isn't bad. It's as hot as florida but replace sweaty *** humidity with higher sweaty *** temps. We're close to Cali so we can drive there for fun events too.

Oh, and the best selling point. We can own all sorts of fun guns.

You should look for more than just a place to drift. I lived in Nashville for a long time and have to say - Nashville is a great place to live with a great southern feel to it. The people are friendly and the cost of living is cheaper than bigger cities, even though Nashville has a big city kinda feel.

Really it's up to you. But if you do consider Nashville, look at the donelson area. It's a cool hidden part of nashville and has everything close by. plus the rent is pretty reasonable.

Side note: Nashville gets hot sometimes. :p

Ive never lived in a state with emissions lol, everyone says it sucks *** for us!...
Ive been in Destin for 2 years now and still have my Alabama tag! I dont really feel like dealing with the dmv over my fd (rhd).

Ive got the beach and babes here, so that would be nice to bring with me

Its hard to find anyone here thats into cars thats not a dbag, so I fell your pain on that!

I was at a meet a couple weeks ago and a couple a guys in rx8s came up to me asking about the car. They seemed like pretty cool dudes...till they found out I didnt have a rotary anymore lol. They decided to walk away and go back to talking to themselves haha! Pretty funny night

Pacific North West! No emissions, cost of living is not cheap but not outrageus, and weather is mild as ****. Northern Wa has PGP in Kent, Evergreen Raceway in Monroe(i think...), and other local tracks usually have open drift night. By Portland theres Pat Acres Racing Complex. Theres more Im sure but those are a few places I know of off the top of my head.

Then for the hoodlums there are mountain passes and other spots that people usually go for a fun time... at their own risk.

Just have to put up with the lack of sun 6-8 months out of the year due to overcast-ness. But otherwise there is a lot of support for motor sports out this way.

^ I thought there was emissions in some parts of WA? I could've swore Seattle had emissions when I was looking to move there 3-4 years ago.

Awesome!
I would say to check out central/south fl for a better drift scene, but Fl won't miss one more bastard rx7, give Arizona a shot.

I agree with Sharingan. Consider staying in central/S. florida and build that scene up. I moved from an area in a state with no emissions (MI) to CA. Now I've got an FC that's illegal to drive on the road and an FD that's borderline passing emissions.

Also, consider you're moving from the 3rd worse state for unemployment to the 2nd! There are jobs to be had but i don't know your education background/experience but it will come into play. OH, and AT&T is about to do a huge layoff out here so I don't know if you'll have the option to, say, pop out here for a year to test the waters. If that's possible i'd say do it.

Consider coming out and getting a feel for a while to see if your personality/ethics/beliefs
works or clashes with the way things are out here.

I've lived all over this great country and i gotta say, you can really see a difference in the thinking within all the regions and you just might get a rude awakening once you get past the whole drifting scene.

Some citys have it from the sounds of things but not many. Seattle Probably does (GD Greeners) but RCW 46.37.390 Says you need to stay oem dB or lower and not throw smoke clouds. So emission is pretty much a visual/audible inspection any time you drive by a state patrol cruiser, also keep in mind how many newer trucks an civics get away with it... almost all of em. Ive heard only a couple stories of people getting busted for it and they were not smart enough to read RCWs and take that **** to court.

Plus my 86 fc is legal according to that rcw so I have that printed out and in my glove box just incase. "This subsection (3) does not apply to vehicles twenty-five or more years old or to passenger vehicles being operated off the highways in an organized racing or competitive event conducted by a recognized sanctioning body."

You should check out v2labs.com. Pretty sure they're outta Orlando. They should now EVERYTHING going on, Orlando south....

Hopefully central Flo is my next move and will definitely help to grow it-in some way or another..

You could move up north, but then you have winter and snow and that's le gay. But ClubLoose in Jersey is pretty rad.

But once I finish school I wan to go west, AZ hopefully, for the reasons Digi7ech mentioned. I'm so sick of snow and not being able to drive my car all year around.

if your coming out this way, and hit up AZ, you might as well check out vegas too - we have an amazing drift scene and U drift, where you can drift any night of the week for $40 all day

Myrtle Beach, SC has DriftMB monthly at myrtle beach speedway and SC has no inspections at all.

Charlotte, NC has Street Wise Drift which is a east coast Formula D feeder, and Koss MotorSports for just fun local sliding, both venues usually within half hour to 45 minutes of the city. I see ATT vans around here all the time, but their cell phone coverage sucks. NC has saftey inspections for cars 95 and earlier and emissions inspections for cars 96 and older, but the emissions is just plugging into the obd-ii and making sure a code isnt present.

go vegas, california blows massive amounts of dick. weather is awesome, cost of living.......really?, cops suck, governors suck, and when it comes to cars, cali isn't friendly. i would choose a state close to cali. arizona or nevada.

Both "scenes" are pretty strong in those states and you can cruise over to cali whenever you want.

RX7s in NC are safety only. Basically do the lights and brakes work.

Any part of the Southwest, excluding SoCal. I bounce between Salt Lake City, UT and Albuquerque, NM for work, and I've gotta say, AZ, NM, and Vegas have great scenes. I'm still crunching numbers to see if I can afford driving to Vegas for a few events next season, might just save up and give Guthrie a run for his money here in the ABQ.

TX. near minerals wells tx to be exact. 2 events amonth and we will soon have events at texas motor speedway.

CA sucks dick that's why I moved to TX. I can shoot trespassers legally, no emissions, and the cops are cool. I've been caught in the act of drifting many times and they always just tell us to go home. No tickets yet (Fingers crossed)

Also no state income tax

CA is a broke *** state with no jobs, enjoy your beach since you'll be sleeping on it in a cradboard box with your car impounded due to illegally modifed engine. You guys are stupid. $400 to smog your illegal *** car every two years? I pay 15 bucks a year for what amount to a brake and lamp inspection LOL.

I hear there are a couple counties near the metroplex (DFW) that have some sort of emissions control, although nothing like CA. Just don't live there obviously. Everywhere else is good to go.

Also housing and food and all that is cheap as hell. My 1500 sqft house cost 85,000 and is in perfect condition and came with new appliances, new ac, new everything. Once again suck it CA I'll never move back to that **** hole
