Newbie drifting question...clutches?

So I plan on drifting my NA vert. The clutch that's in it is starting to slip. So I can get a stock clutch for very cheap, I also priced out a dual friction centerforce at twice the price. Now like the title says I'm new to drifting so I was just looking for some opinions from you guys as to which clutch would benefit me the most. I am leaning towards the stock one because of the price but on the other hand drifting is prolly not very clutch friendly. Also feel free to recommend another brand this is just whats available to me within a day. Not sure what to get, any input is appreciated.

I have the Racing Beat Street/Strip Clutch with their aluminum flywheel on my na. I love it.

I would get the OE exedy or whatever replacement and stay with the stock weight flywheel. The extra rotating mass of the stock flywheel will help keep momentum up when you clutch kick. A lightened flywheel and an underpowered car will bog down and the clutch kick won't be nearly as effective at shocking the drive train then it would be if had that heavier spin.

^ I agree. I ran a stock exedy replacement in my FD for a little bit, and it worked out just fine. I say just go with that, and use your stock flywheel just like daegerous said.

I also agree. I have been drifting my NA for 5+ years on a stock replacement/stock flywheel setup. While it's not meant to compete with high horsepower drift cars, it does the job very well for getting out there and having fun.

I've never had much trouble with bogging down. But I know what you mean about clutch kicking, I think my diff might be going since it's stock and have never had it rebuilt. I notice one tire has more wear than the other.

On my NA before I TII swapped it I ran an ACT pressure plate/clutch with a racing beat aluminum flywheel and freakin loved it. Clutch kicking was fantastic and even with its viscous type LSD I got my car buck sideways. Sure it does bog more when you press the clutch in but its not like you are approaching the turn with the clutch in 10 seconds before you kick it.

Also a lightweight flywheel makes power overs a little easier as well. Don't get me wrong the bog sucks especially for daily driving but I never noticed an adverse effect for drifting.

+1 for lightweight flywheels and stage 1 type clutches.

i had a centerforce stage2 setup with a act prolite fly, and it was pimp, held real well and clutch kickin was a breeze plus with the 9lb fly your always up in your R's never noticed any bogging, jus some slight noise at low rpms but it was good for street and track
