You just answered ur own question. that RB downpipe and full exaust is causing your spike in boost. just buy an fcd or maybe some kind of fuel management. i have seen a couple rtek units going pretty cheap.

Dont listen to this ***^, hes into chevys....

you sound newbish sooo... where did you route your wastegate vacuum to? is the wastegate accuator spaced? did some JDM cool kid in Japan put a different spring in it? A downpipe alone wont make you spike 10psi over stock. Check those things then get back to us.

BTW ray, come get this FD ****, dont worry bout money I want your car to be FAST

^^

IM surprised its still alive after 18 PSI RUNS
But listen to zerkster. DO what he said. Check vacuums.

Also We want to know what kind of intake you have on your turbo.
And like he said, full exhaust would not go past 10 psi. Maybe 11 on cold night.

DO NOT leT THIS CAR GO PAST 8 PSI WITHOUT A FCD(a lil box on the passenger strut tower under the hood) If IT DOES BOOST PAST 8-9 PSI WITHOUT THE FCD
IT WILL BLOW UP IN NO TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS. Thats chevy guy has bad advice. He really thinks a stock egine with exhaust will boost creep to 18 psi.. NO wonder the rotary was too much for you.

the wastegate is the scoal can looking thing next to the turbo. if its a factory turbo then there is a vacuum nipple on the turbo outlet that you can route to the nipple on the wastegate

yeah definitely wastegate.. check that.. make sure the vacuum line is from the turbo nipple to the wastegate..It should stop around about 6psi.. unless you setup aboost controller..your getting 18psi because the wastegate is not letting off any..

so what if the hose from the nipple to the wastegate is fine is it just my boost gauge? everyone says i would be peeling out if i was boosting that much and can the wastegate be opened im guessing to replace the spring......im trying to learn as much as i can about wastegates... not many sources i can find that are good.....is there also a wastegate on the turbine side of the turbo like towards the exhaust half?

rx7fitz is there a boost controller on your car?

DO you have an upgraded intake pipe? (the pipe that goes from turbo to the mass air and air filter).

Also. the wastegate has a stem that streches to the back of the turbo. Make sure that stem is hooked up to the flapper valve.

Just a bit of preemptive advice. If you are thinking of getting a boost controller, don't. The boost controller can only control boost above what your turbo is naturally boosting. If your turbo is already boosting 18 psi, the only way a boost controller can go is up. You don't want that. Make sure the wastegate is set to natural boost with the vacuum line (sorry, don't know all the details). From thete, if your boost has stabilized, THEN you can play with a boost controller.

i just recently got a boost controller, and Lucky7 tested out my engine with a wideband. it seems that with stock primarys and 680 gslse injectors Im still running lean at only 7psi .
So I adjust the manual boost controller to boost only 6psi.. before the boost controller I had the wastegate vacuum line straight to the turbo nipple so it would only boost 5.5psi ish..
I havent dynoed my car yet, but Im guessing 200ish hp? I mean I could be stupid and and just crank teh boost controller all the way to 15psi lol and detonate my motor from being too lean.

gay huh... thats what happens when you build a large street ported t2 motor with straight pipe stock ecu and injectors.. It runs lean, so You cant boost much..

eventually Il save up for a standalone and bigger injectors, and hybrid turbo... if i just made 300ish hp id be happy forver..3rd gear with 255s would be so cake

^^ I have a BNR3 and 720cc secndaries, walbro, and FPR. Intake and exhaust. Oh and FCD.

With a wide band at 7 psi creeping to 9 i was seeing 10.1 AFRS. HElla rich.
I even did short 14 psi pull and it read 11.3 afr's.

fuu how much power are you making? s4 or s5? I guess the 720 secondaries make a big difference! and you have a bnr stage 3 turbo... is your engine ported at all or just stock ports?

its seems mine is just just too lean...I cant boost more than 6psi without being lean... are the 720s high or low impedence? Im running high impedence s4.5 t2 setup right now.. the 680s are low, so had to wire 10ohm resistors.. should I try getting another pair of gslse injectors? and just runn all 4?
