Getting rid of t78 for ?????
Well I have to say after drifting a few times on the t78 I must say it is not going to work. I bought the car with this turbo on it already, but its time to change turbos and get the response and powerband i want. I am tuned right now to 420 at 17psi, but the turbo doesnt wake up til about 5k.
Specs on motor:
13b rew
New rear housing
Balanced rotors
3mm seals
oil mods
cooling mods
Jacobs ignition
Mocal dual oil coolers
Greddy FMIC and pipind
Streetport
Exhaust ports matched
Apexi PFC
I am leaning towards a TO4, but dont know which one to get. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for better response and faster spool. I also want it to be 400hp capable.

or you can do what i did.
get an electronic boost controller and a weaker wastegate spring. then max out the gain setting on the ebc. I have a .6bar spring. It spikes to about .9 then sits about .8. The ebc really helped my spool times and the weaker spring saves me from overboosting. its a cheaper idea then buying a new turbo

I have a greddy manifold. I already sold the t78 and plan on getting some type of TO4. There are some many TO4's out there to choose from. I guess I'm going to have to look at the turbo maps and decide which turbo would be best for me. I want to have a really good spooling TO4 and make it work thru the full RPMS.

5k for the t-78 to wake up.. i doubt that
my t-78 kicks in at around 3.7 k
If i was gonna change the t-78 i would go for the gt42R which is even slower but once it kicks in its freaky
but if you are looking for quick response go for the rx6

Well a lot of factors play in response and spool up of the turbbo. I have a Greddy FMIC with all its piping. I plan to run a vmount set up this winter and a smaller turbo to help me on low end power. I'm leaning right now towards picking up the T04s. Does anyone have a dyno sheet or any info on a streetported engine with this turbo?

here's what you do.
get a borg warner s300 series turbo. they're available from bullseye or direct from air werks.
i get full boost at 3500 and it pulls to 8500.
don't be sold on ball bearing bs.. if the compressor and exhaust wheels are sized properly a journal bearing turbo will spool just as fast, and have less likeliness to fail.
