First event, and have a question

im doing the county-line skid pad this Saturday and not sure if i should remove my 99spec lip afraid that it will hit in some way, i got rid of my blown base model suspension a gooood while ago because and got a used set of r1's to get me by until i get coilovers, never had any trouble under hard braking so im guessing it would be alright but id like to get opinions, Anyone tried drifting with stock suspension and have no problems?

idk that much about drifting but from what i do know you should get to know your car before u mod it. like drift it stock and see how it is. that way you can improve as the parts u get improve.

if theres objects you can hit.. than take it off.. if not keep the lip on..

as far as suspension on the fd.. stock is ok to start off and get to know the car.. but itll be much easier when you get coilovers.. prepare for some body roll though lol.. and good and post pics ..

my dad always said when he used to ride bikes that there was this guy that rode this rickety old bike with them and he could always barely keep up. so on race day he showed up with his actual racing bike and smoked everyone else.

thanks littlemimus for that story which i don't believe is relevant here, but they just have a couple cones up, i plan to have some pictures taken and videos, it may be my first actual skidpad, but iv drifted in the rain and just a couple times but never constant.

Just a slide here and there. this time ill have to try and keep it going, so hope i do well. but before that i gotta swap my tires out with the drift tires but i really rather save the 30 bucks to swap tires... anyone know some one who does them cheap or free?

Take the lip off.
If it's a skidpad , that mean cones. They pack a pretty good hit when you're going fast.

We had some huge 3 foot tall ones that took a guys rear bumper out. I've got permanent smacks/indents on my front bumper from cones.

aero off.

went to first event. left lip on, along with other aero crap. a big rock garden stone thing happened to be on the skid pad, maybe 2-3" tall. while i was on the pad thrashing about poorly, i hit that thing a bunch of times completely annihilating said lip in about 3 minutes.

i don't know what your course looks like, but there are other reason to leave it off.
i also went off into grass on both the road course and skipad more times than i can count. that would **** up your lip pretty good, lol. and hit a tire wall later that day, destroying rear valence (among other things).

there's no reason to leave any aero on at all if you're a total noob (like me) and you value whatever exterior removable pieces you've bought for your car. at least until you're fairly certain you can keep your car from hitting things or flying off into grass (unlike me).

as for tires, just get another pair of stock wheels.

Guess I will take it off and see how I do, I'll put a google map pick of the place when I'm off work. What about the rear fenders will rocks be spinning off the tires and nailing the paint or will it stay in the wheel well area. Not a total noob at the drifting scene, like I said iv messed around in the rain so I have an idea of how it will be

thanks again for the input guys. As for buying rims I wish I had the extra cash, I was going around asking if anyone had 2 I could borrow for the event but to no avail, so I had to get 17s to swap on my rims... Fking gotta pay 60s... 30 to put the ones I bought on, the swap again fir the original

here it is on google maps change the terrain to see it, go right right when you press it till you see your first right, its a nice open area (not with the center with grass in it)

1st off...."DRIFTING" in the rain is NOT drifting but sliding due to water...
Drifting on DRY tarmac is much more complicated and takes lots of practice. The good thing about Countyline is that the skidpad is just an open area with no walls or obstacles that can really damage your car unless you go totally off track into the trees... they don't put out many cones... probably only 3 or 4 cones to guide you along...You should be fine with the front spoiler as your car isn't low at all....

Also... they have a tire changing machine at the event...they charge $5 to change it for you...

i heard they havent been bringing the tire changer there for awhile now, if they do i think its on the real event not the skidpad. i could be wrong tho, i was there 2 weeks ago watching and didnt see it.

sorry i was sliding in the rain then, not drifting sorry for the confusion

its raining here it weston where i work, hope it does go to countyline, or else it will be canceled.
