Diff Stud Replacement
Diff Stud Replacement
Hey guys, I wanted to know if anyone has ever replaced the diff studs/spikes on their 7. I had to cut about a 1/4 inch off one because a nut refused to not cross thread 8 months ago and now the other one decided to strip out as soon as it starts to get tight
So I cut two holes in the hatch area to take a peek at how Mazda welded them in. Pretty sturdy stuff, it looks like it's gonna be a pain to cut them out. I remember seeing a write up about subframe stud replacement which seemed similar but i thought i'd ask so i could get some more advice on it or info.
If someone has a better idea then cutting them out I'm all ears to that too

they always **** up when the diff slides down/up when you dont remove the subframe all the way to change the diff, and leave the front mount still bolted..
slices the **** out of your fingers too, don't ask me how i know....
