Dear BoostinmyS5

Are you running an different trans, or a rebuilt trans with cryoed gears or anything like that. We have been doing some practice run with my car and already the rebuilt trans is making some noise in 2nd and 3rd. I am not going to say that I need a dog mission or anything(if I do I do), just wondering how your trans has been holding up.

my box was holding up alright with 370ish hp ...

gears-wise anyway... i kept destroying 5th, reverse selector forks because my mounts were flogged out.
who needs 5th or reverse anyway.

haha I have bent the shift fork for 5th and rev. two times now!! I have solid trans mounts. I think it is cuz I am used to driving right hand drive more than left.

Lol i thought it was, well damn this is shitty. The only 2 pgraded trans for an FC are the GURU dog box and the HKS dogbox. m not familiar with the guru unit, and I hear that the HKS boxes dont last as long as they should.

tii trans is pretty damn stout there is prolly only a marginal difference for a lot more money and alot more gear noise lol

Well this is for the track car so I am not to worried about the noise. The differences though are huge, I know the T2 trans is stout but after 350ftlbs is not to good, or that is how i understand it to be. A dog mission has strait cut gears that are usually more stout from the get go, and then there are made larger and most usually stronger than most stock gear boxes.

Will it break 350ft lbs though lol. Maybe I just did something wrong in the rebuild, but this was the 2nd trans so I dunno, or I could just be to hard on the lil thing haha.

I though J-Rat still uses the stock trans on his car.

Ive seen a bunch of car with the stock trans holding more than 500hp some with 3rotors. But I have also seen dogmissions on na 12as lol, I think the big difference is how you drive it.

Man I broke 3rd gear on a NA motor, twice. My trance now with about 300hp is holding up fine. I think its hit or miss. Just don,t bank the gears win you don't have to. I shift slow unless its a competition.

I was having some real bad trans problems but the last couple events its been staying together. I think I've gone through 6 in total so I now have changing them down to a science 45 min out and in. I was using a c's short shifter with 90 weight fluid but recently I changed back to a stock shifter with 140 weight fluid and its lasted the last 4 events! Also I'm using mazdaspeed trans mounts with a poly lower center bushing. Just something I came up with.

Also I think one thing that can really help is driving style. Although its awesome to, try and not kick it as agressively. Instead try slipping the cluch initially for second a second on upshifts and when clutch kicking. I always break on lower rpm/speed 3rd gear kicks. But now I'm trying to slip it a bit to save having to swap out broken stuff.

Btw what clutch u using?

Same clutch I always run, SPEC, with a centerforce HD PP and a 13lbs aluminum flywheel. MOst of the time I start a drift Im braking or feint it. But I did pop t a couple of time in my test runs because I am not used to the wider stance of the car and the more grip i have so the car was trying to understeer.

I am running 140w in my trans its Royal Purple. I am using a stock shifter also, I kept missing the downshift from 3rd to 2nd with a Cs I had.

i'd just try working on driving style.

we're always gonna fight making more than what the trans was designed for, and i don't have the money to buy some crazy trans.

try staying on the gas a bit longer and maybe throwing more angle to keep the tires spinning more through the corner, so as to not lift and scrub speed, but rather scrub speed with angle. then try slipping to re-initiate.
