blown stock lsd : Only locks when turning left
Hi all. I know my lsd is blown. Well at least.... I would assume so. When ever I do a left hand turn my lsd locks up perfectly, able to break em loose, especially in the rain we have recently had. But if I take a right hand turn (only been able to do at lower speeds in 1st and 2nd gear) my diff stays open and on I just spin one tire.
My question is out of curiosity (because I am just going to get a new lsd) what part is out of spec in the unit that would cause this? Stock s4 t2 lsd.
Thanks
~Tweak

Who rebuilds them for $575.
I am still curious as to why one side would fail quicker than another. what specific part is it that if failing anyways?

Thats just what makes sense to me because the drive torque should cause the thing to bind somewhat regardless of the amount of wear on the plates. When turning left the inside wheel would be the one that would normally spin with an open diff, so you would assume that the right side of the LSD core is fine.

For a stock rebuild of your tII diff www.mazdatrix.com
The catch is, you buy the parts and rebuild it yourself. Rebuilding it is easy. Really. The hard part is pulling the half shafts out and dropping the subframe with just basic hand tools, jackstands and a floor jack. Enjoy that.
I was going to get a kaaz 2 way but i'm saying **** it and going with a stock rebuild. I'd rather spend that extra coin on some gauges, a clutch, aero or upgrading my rotors, pads and lines. I'm probably going to keep my car for a while so it doesn't bother me that i'm not getting "THE BEST BALLER DIFF MONEY CAN BUY" and just a stock rebuild. It worked fine for years. Just take into consideration how old the diff is (20ish) and the beating it has taken.
If it's a vlsd, you're better off chucking it into the woods. VLSD's are not serviceable. There are no clutch snot refill kits.......
