Alright, I've had it with this DAMN e-brake.

So I my stock e-brake has never really worked.

I went ahead and bought a brand new e-brake cable from Mazdatrix, and that didn't help at all.

So after a while of still having a garbage e-brake, I went and bought new oem spec pads, and rotors.

I have also tried adjusting via the adjustment nut on the handle. Still garbage.

So here I am now, and my e-brake has gotten to the point where... And this part is sad... It won't even ******* lock in the RAIN. Ripped it with an almighty force yesterday in HEAVY, and fresh rain. BARELY even slowed me down.

What the ****?! How do I adjust this thing to get it to lock?

i have the same problem in my car the only way to really fix it is get a new caliper because the needle bearings get shot inside and even after running better pads, ss lines and replacing all 3 cables, it still doesnt lock. thats why im going hydro on my other car

rocking 18s wont help you much in that department either :p

I figure if JTP, and Hert can lock up can lock up with 18x11's, and 295's. A 215/35 can't be all that hard hahaha

U got to stretch the cable, when I parked it I pulled the ebrake really hard up
It took me a month n tighten as time went
Now on dry street, it wouldn't lock unless I tap on the brake to help it but in the rain it will lock up on it own

I wish I even had an ebrake.

I'm about to tear the drift car apart for the winter, going to be doing a PSM/Wilwood setup with dual calipers. It's really the only way to go for consistency

U could cheat
With the bar u get more leverage
But I don't like it, it too much of a pull to get a lock but it does help though
That why I'm using hole clap, to take it off to the side

I got more aggressive pads that required more heat but grabbed harder than stock once heated.
So do a burnount to get your tires hot first while dragging the brakes. Once the tires are greasy, it shouldnt take much to lock them. Its going to be a lot harder on a cold tire.

Also, i found the force you pull the ebrake doesnt help as much as the quickness you pull the ebrake. Some people just try to pull the handle off the car while I try to almost "Shock" it like a quick jab.

And if you try to do it while you are NOT going completely straight(when the tires are designed to have max grip) you should have better luck too.

Just replaced the ****** pads again. Now it's starting to lock. But still needs to be pulled with one duck of a force.

And you know what, I think I've always done the 'shock' style too. That's just my natural movement. Doesn't seem to make a difference with my garbage car

jtp has covered this. i've listened and done what he has said and it worked. you have to adjust it on the caliper first. search. he used stock rotors/pads/stock ebrake. i use stock rotors/pads/stock ebrake. no problem. search

First of all, old *** thread.

Second, I know how to search, and did so. **** just don't work. Adjusted it, it worked for a few days, doesn't work anymore. Won't even engage the right side. Pretty much can't adjust enough I guess.

So I'm either buying new calipers, or going hydro.

You didn't really need to make yet another "search" comment. I believe there's more of those than useless threads.

Let us know if you get new calipers and that fixes it for you. I think it should, personally I want to keep my car with the stock e-brake, which has worked fine for me. I do have a hydro laying around but the only reason I got it is for the coolness factor.
