Exclamation 4 speed drift trans?!?!

So........ i blew up my 13b and plan on moving on to a 5.3 lm7 with ls1/6 goodies. the plan is cheapness. i planed on getting a t56, but i cant find one in my area for a reasonable price. i know the t56 is the perfect and ideal transmission for this swap, but life is not perfect and ideal. i also have a problem with buying a $600-$800 engine and putting a $1500 transmission behind it.it just doesn't feel right. i searched around for a long time until i found out about muncie m22's and borg warner t10's. i am starting to love these transmissions. they both can easily handle the power of the 5.3 and could of a 5.7 or 6.0. from the reviews ive read they are stupid reliable and really cheap too!($400-$700) and for the cherry on top the m22 makes dog box whining noises, to cool. before you ask, yes it has been done before and it is cheap to do.

i do have some questions tho:
1) how would the gearing of the m22 or the t10 be with the turbo ii diff. these transmissions were made for american torque v8's so i thought they wouldn't be that bad. if it is off a little bit im not to worried as the t10 have some of the most customizable gear ratios out their.
2) would i have to make a custom trans mount?
3) what would the shifter position be like? i have seen the transmission on ls1's, but not in rx7's and never seen them used for drifting.

fyi:
-this is a drift car
-i know the transmissions will limit my top speed, but i don't race at huge tracks with +100mph drift entry.
- this will be my first time ever engine swapping a car.
- the m22's came in short and long gear ratios, which would be better.

i do learn from criticism, but pleas don't only think of ways this will not work, but ways it will work. let me know what you think!!

thanks

alex

1) they make different gears for them. almost every one I have seen has different gear ratios in them.
2)yes
3)it will be close enough for a drift car. also some have different shifters on them. some are longer(further back) than others.

Find one. put it on your engine. drop your engine in your car. you will most likely have to cut a hole in your trans tunnel for the shifter. I think they are mostly sideshift anyway. after driving it a few times buy different gears if you do not like it. or dont.

cool! thanks, but im starting to get sketched out by if my gear ratios are to far between for drifting. im starting to lean to a 350z transmission. cheap, but people say their to gears are to short for the torque of an ls engine. i thought i could get away with it as i am using a 5.3 lm7 with ls goodies. any comments on the 350z trans with ls1?
kit:
LSX LS1 LS2 LS3 LS6 LS7 LS9 L98 Engine to 350Z 370Z VQ Transmission Compound Adapter Plate
used with a 240sx:

which would you choose?
