Normally this should be in the Second Generation section and would be given the regular "Search" answer, but I would rather be helpful. From now on, please post in the appropriate Generation-Specific section and search first before posting a thread.

The "climate control unit" you are referring to is commonly called the Logicon, short for Logic Controller. From full hot to full cold, there are 19 steps (20 possible temperature settings). The way it works is similar to a R/C car servo, but with distinct steps instead of fluid proportional control. Each time you nudge the temperature lever one click, it tells the air mixer motor to move one one step in the direction you nudged the lever.

Diagnosing the Logicon normally takes the Logicon checker (dealer tool), but I believe there are other methods of pinning down the culprit without one. Here is a similar situation (stuck on cold) with some insight by Clokkar: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...w-heat-980025/

Another helpful thread with more insight by Clokkar along with the location of the air mixer motor and other related parts: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...ws-hot-912057/
