Question 20B Subframe Kit for Rx8

I know this may be slightly off topic since it IS an rx7 forum but i figured it would be better to post it here since you're not a registered sponsor over there.

Many of us have noticed that your rx7 subframe has been picking up some steam and has been becoming the subframe to consider. Have you guys thought about making a 20B subframe for the rx8?

You can currently pick up an rx8 for the same price as an FD now(infact, even cheaper) it would be nice to finally see the aftermarket for the rx8 catch up a bit.

I know that a turbo 20B might be too difficult to over as a "kit" type solution but even an N/A 20b conversion kit would be much appreciated.

Correct me if im wrong but a N/A 20b could make around 300-450hp depending on the amount of mods, yes? I think thats exactly how much power an rx8 needs.

Discuss.

We are working on a kit for the rx8 as we speak. Thanks to a friend of ours for letting us borrow his car. Once we get it done I'll make sure we post it on rx8club, and here in our vendors section.

Just as an FYI -
I saw a 20B RX-8 at a recent track day sponsored by the Austin RX-7 club. It is owned by and was built by Tito who had an RX-7 shop in San Antonio for a number of years (Alamo Rotary).
He built a few 20B 3rd gens at that shop. I taked to him and he indicated that he had fabricated motor mounts but said that like the FC that a new sub-frame was not necessary for this swap. On his car the motor was well positioned and didn't interfere with the steering rack.

I'm not sure if he is still on the board here but I am sure you could contact him through the Austin club - http://texasrxs.org/modules/news/

Thats good news, can you please give the general public some information on the subframe?

It's not a subframe just like our FD kit, it will be motor mounts. We are still in works so the rest I can't really say until we are done.

what precautions are you guys taking to the steering/suspension geometry, weight distribution, and engine height?

Well, we wont have any part of changing or altering the steering position or suspension geometry. Our solutions will keep it the way mazda built it. It looks like we may have two versions one that involves shorting the driveshaft, pp frame, and etc. The other might be a steering rack replacement. Its a side project so it wont be until summer when we have pics and a kit produced.

sounds like its going to be a very great product, side project or not. i like how you guys decided to tackle the project, sounds like its going to be a very clean install with very little or no cons at all.

No updates at all. The Rx-8 is still sitting, and the customer is waiting for the funds to get started on it.
