Aaron, have you made up your mind yet on which car is coming? M3 or FD? I really want to see the FD back in action. Of course I've never been in an E46 M3...

Hey dude. Ha! I'm an Evo owner trespassing on the RX7 forums. Hopefully we are all car lovers in spirit.

Funny, I joined this forum more than a year ago. Haven't posted until now. I have heard spooky things about the goings on in this forum. Us 8ers are taught to fear 7ites!

So it is final, Aaron is breaking the code, bringing a non-mazda, non-rotary vehicle to DGRR? Why dont you use the bimmer to tow the 7 down? I think we would all enjoy the irony. I was thinking of towing the 8 but have desided otherwise.

Any one interested in caravanning from the DC area should visit http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=107204

DISCLAIMER: While we will not be speeding, this is not an organized caravan and we (actually the EVO owner) will NOT wait for you. Just FYI

Chris I love your signature gif! Anywho...I take my road tripping seriously. I only stop for gas, food to go, and to pee. And in this case, letting the dogs pee too. No waiting for slackers or people with small bladders.

I completely agree; I don't want to make the trip a 18 hour affair. I am just generating a little plausible deniability so that when someone asks me to wait, I can point to you and say "sorry, man, HE said we gotta go!" Saves me time. Might make me a wimp, but it supports your image! Just ask your neighbors.

Anyway, My major concern is with leaving ON TIME. If folks have a problem, that theirs. (Actually, the major issue will be getting MJ in the car ON TIME. She dallies and I cant speed her up.) We leave at 5. period. We can pick up the rest of the train at some predefined place, but we dont stop. We swing through and keep on motoring. THat will be made clear. Once we are on the road, I dont mind staying in a line as long as the line moves. It is the standing still that KILLS me.

I just want to make a note for those of you NOT bringing a performance vehicle of any breed: I will not take more than ONE (1) passenger with me whilst running the Gap. I want to have fun and while "the more the merrier", adding additional weight to my car will not be more fun.

Wouldn't it be difficult to combine "freehanding" and driving the Gap at the same time. And who what taking video while this was happening, in a RX7 no less. I can see this in an RX8 since we have rear seats.

Just want everyone to come back in one piece.

If you are brave you can ride with me and let K drive the MS7 (like the abbreviation?) No closing your eyes.

Freehanding as in holding the camera instead of it being mounted. Makes a huge difference in what you end up with when watching the video. My female passenger did that last year and we ended up with a great 18 min video of me chasing an RX-8 on the Dragon. You get a much better perspective of the corners, speed and dynamics going on.

I've wanted to upload it ever since it was done but it's freaking huge and in a DVD format from the guy driving the RX-8 who's camera we used. I have it saved on my laptop and will have it up there this year so hook up with me and we'll watch it. I'll bring headphones also since the audio part is as good as the video.

Yeah, B can drive the SAG wagon at the rear of the pack, nice and slow. (little biking humor there.)

On the other hand, I a little latitude is in order, mr "I'll bring a bimmer to a rotary rally, despite the fact I own a perfectly good (well, not so perfect) RX7." Just because you OWN a rotary, you dont get a free pass. B is at least willing to bring a mazda.

Well, this way all the Rotary guys can test their skill and their modifications against "The BENCHMARK". It's an impressive feat to defeat a E46 M3.
AND I plan on bringing a picture of my FD and tape it to the hood. I'll be an incognito RX-7 owner.

Too bad your M3 can't touch my Evo performance wise. You should want me to bring the MS7 so I don't embarrass you!! HA!!! Plus, CR's turbo RX8 has phenomenal handling. Lightweight 50/50 balance. If anything, you should be asking CR for a ride.....

Just for fun.

A little fun history about the "M" badge:

A little for you shadow1:

And for my fellow FD partners. The RX-7 is the only stock car:

PS People call it a "Mazdaspeed 7" to help them rationalize the embarassing fact that it's still just an SUV.

The M3 was definitely modded. The Evo was an older model and I suspect not modded much at all and not launched well either. A good AWD launch should have put a good 1-2 car lengths on the M3, which would have been held back by traction control and rear wheel spin.

I love it. An arguement between EVO/M3 owners in an RX7 forum.

BTW, I'm betting on the EVO if there is even a slight bend.
