I called on the 15th to book a room and it was already full, blew my mind. Anyone know of any GOOD local hotels around there within a good distance? I know I can look it up, I'm just trying to see where other rotary guys are staying...

I stayed at the Microtel in Bryson city last year. A couple guys from FL stayed there too. It was a nice place. They give a discount through Nantahala too. It's about 10~15 minutes from the lodge from I can remember.
can't remember the name but last yr me and a buddy stayed at a cabin that was like 5 min away going up the hill past nantahala. only 1 BR and a loft with 2 single mattresses, and a futon. weren't bad little cabins, and cheap too.
as mentioned i don't remember but i contacted the other guy that was with me and he thinks he has a pic that has the name and i'll post it as soon as i get it. the ones i took don't actually show a name. but continuing past nantahala, there's a little store on the left. turn left down the road that's beside the store. then i believe it was the first left after that. then maybe 100 yrds cabins r on the left. i think there was like 4 or 5 cabins right in that little area. we actually had to call the number posted at the office for the guy to come out.

yup, microtel inn @ bryson city was nice, relatively close to the venue and affordable!
I'm bringing my backpack with all my gear and may sleep in the woods. Backpacking is one of my hobbies so I could combine two hobbies into one trip. LOL. Sleeping in the woods is free. If it rains I'll find a hotel room somewhere.
The guys who were going to stay with the Gville crew most likely are not now. Have some space available (may be floor space) for a couple of people if anyone is interested.
