DGRR - TX AK LA MS TN AL NC routes
You can pull the pilot off the Flight Plan, but you can't pull the flight plan out of the pilot.
Thinking about routes from Dallas with the hopes of rendezvousing with Huston, Austin, and other "DGRR pilgrims' along the way:
DGRR (southern) registration along routes as of 19Feb:
Some planning assumptions:
Actual Google Maps waypoint-to-waypoint planning for one day trip yields a substantially longer trip timeline than a straight Dallas to DGRR mapping:
(Stops not accounted for)
Give the risk of such a long trip one-day trip while towing, I'm thinking I may have to break up the trip into 2-day. The intent would then be to make it to an agreed-upon rendezvous point for the final leg(s), perhaps Meridian (Southern) or Memphis (Northern).
Would appreciate other "pilgrims" thoughts and feedback...

Some planning assumptions:
- Shortest (time) routes per Google Maps
- Arrive at DGRR no later than 6 PM on 26 April
- Meridian, MS, is most likely Dallas/Houston/Austin rendezvous?
- Take the average of legs if Google provides a trip range.

I'll be towing. I'll have some flexibility on how many days I drive. With the above time-distance planning, I suspect I'll need two days for the trip. A little more risk-averse than I used to be... well maybe a lot more. But I would love to rendezvous on Wed with any convoys that plan to arrive at Deals Gap in the afternoon.

DGRR is a mere couple weeks away and I've got a new tow vehicle in the works.. oh yeah, and getting excited. Reconsidering doing the trip in one day. Any DFW (or on route) pilgrims interested in driving together. Would help me refine a plan.

So your plan is bugout from Houston at 4PM Wed? Is the route planned, in case anyone want to rendezvous with your convoy? Depending on your route and timing, I may join at some point.

... like Greek comedies are written about!
Now we just need one of the Boys in Blue to round out the (post-drive) libations!

Rain, rain, go away.
Come back another event.
Rain is forecast along the entire route AND at DGRR all week.
If the predictions remain by Monday, I'll be out of the chocks on Tuesday morning to Birmingham. The plan will be to overnight there to mitigate the driving fatigue risk. That'll make Wednesday a very gentlemanly six-hours leg to Deal Gap.
Gonna be awesome to drive the Dragon on slicks in the rain... can't wait!!

FYI the early weather forecast for that region is never great. Also we've had many days with a bit of rain in the afternoon and that's it.
And you can have cases where it's raining in one valley and not in the next one over.
But, hope for the best and prepare for the worst
See you up there soon!
