Thread searching and archives

So needless to say there's been a huge change in the last couple of days. Yes the forum is faster, no, not all the content remained.

What I mean there is that we're somewhat forced to be more specific as searches are now limited to 250 results. Now, I realize this is to make things faster as searching a shitload more than that is intensive. However, sometimes a broad search is necessary to find certain things.

For example, there was a thread that I was certain I had posted in, probably around 05 regarding a polished billet dual pump assembly. I had used my name and several key words, but no luck. The default search for everything under my name won't find it since 250 isn't enough. Now, there's a limited feature in that we can start from a year back and go to older threads, but it's still limited to 250. From there, I can only go back to Aug 05. Not going to cut it.

I know this is a limitation in the default VB code, but can we get something in the works to better define our searches then? Specifically regarding time? I can't imagine that it's going to be that taxing for a "from-to" paramater. Am I wrong?

And please, no "you have no idea" responses this time. We're not children.

Thanks!

Christian

Not to jump on the bandwagon, but I've been frustrated as well, as I KNOW certain key words to threads I *know* exist (b/c I posted in 'em! lol) but to put it simply, the search function SUCKS right now. Not sure why. I think it's def. one of those things that we really need fixed ASAP please!

Thanks,
~Ramy

Don't worry all the old posts are still there and the search will be fixed after the forum upgrade this coming weekend. In order to stop the forum from dieing all the time we had to cut way back on the number of old posts that were indexed. It was a trade-off we made for the sake of performance. I'm sorry for your frustration but things will be much better very soon. Thanks for your patience.

Did the search archive get update last weekend? I still can't seem to find specific threads that I know are out there.

It would have been fixed over the weekend, as planned ... but my developer flaked out and disappeared for days. The new plan is to do it this weekend.
