stop posting in the 2nd gen picture thread!!

All it took for me to learn not to post in the picture thread was one PM from Aaron. Why is it so hard for everyone else to learn this. I see the same people poesting meaningless comments every day.

The problem I have with it (as well as many others I'm sure) is that when I log on and see there's a new picture post I'm all like "dude! a new picture!", but when I click the link and scroll to the bottom of the page what do I see?

............................."dude nice car"

How dissapointed I am.... I wanted to see a new picture!

Anyway I'm through venting now Maybe the mods can think up some sort of plan for this or disiplinary action like disable your posting ability for a couple days... I dunno....

I hear u NCross... it is quite disappointing. and without negative comments by idiots wanting to express their meaningless opinions, maybe more people would post pics of their cars.

there is probably like 2 pages worth of pics in that 40page thread.... it really stops becoming worth it trying to look for it, especially since the server has become so slow.

So you wasted 20 seconds scrolling and maybe 175k of bandwidth. Get over it.

I like the Picture thread more with comment. Boohoo so what it wastes a few seconds of your time. I like it being more of a 2nd gen lounge. Post pics of your car, maybe get a comment or 2 on it, and some questions to help other people know what you did to it and maybe where you got the parts. Of course I agree when it turns into a 3 page bitch fight over something, but the way it ussualy is with just a comment or 2, who cares. I find it boring to go in and just look. I can do that on google images. I like discussing with my fellow 2nd geners. AND yes I know... " Thats what PM's are for! Ask questions there! NOOB!" If the mods are gonna be ***** and try and keep the comments out, make a second sticky for general 2nd gen discussion, so people can do what i said above. Talk about body and interior parts, where you bought them, how much, ect. To me that would improve the forums. But oh well, since when have the mods ever listened to members

i like comments and everything too. i just hate it when im looking through the thread after a few days absence and 80% of the 4 new pages are quotes and "dude nice car". if your going to describe something or ask a question you should post a new picture of yours along with it at least. my 2 cents.

I can understand that I guess, but that just means people should learn when to and when not to post a comment or ask a question. If its just "Nice car" then its not really worth anyone reading. I can accept "Nice car, I like the wheels, what size and offset are they? They look good with the color of your car. Also how much did you pay for them and where did you buy them?" or something similar. Then like you said it would help if you post maybe an updated picture of your car, just to keep it going. I try not to make a comment unless its relevant and at least a few sentances, though I have in the past.

Though sometimes if the car is realy nice and you like it alot, its hard to not let out "Niiice!" or something similar to let them know you appreciate the work they did on the car, or lack of work if you like stock.

if you have a question or comment about someone's set up, PM them. The pages of quotes and duplicated pictures is F-in annoying.

Thats why people need to learn to not overuse the quote button, and if you do, just quote the 1 picture you are refering to or whatever. Again, to me its not even worth PM'ing someone to tell them I like their car when I could just leave a reply on the thread they posted on... "The Thread has rules *******!!!" ok ok, whatever, so I dont like the rules. The damn thread was fine the way it was years before the mods decided it needed an unneeded revamp...

If people would just put the name of the person in their reply, it would cut down on the unneeded length pages of duplicates and quotes, and still allow people to get the word out that they like something about someones car. So what, youd have to move the scroll wheel 2 extra times. Boohoo go kill yourself if its that hard to do. not like you couldnt probably use the extra effort anyway

i think you should comment on someones car or parts. i have no problem with that. my suggestion is that they post a picture along with the comment of a new part or something they just did to their car ya know.

BTW i predict that this thread is about to be moved to the lounge...

In a perfect world thats how it would work. I would say its highly suggested to post a picture along with any reply, but you dont always have a picture worth posting. Like I said on my lastp ost on page 1, if people would stop over using the quote button, the reply would only be maybe 1/3 or 1/4 of the page and would take no effort to just pass by if you didnt want to read it. Instead of 3 pages full of a reply you have already seen 3 times.

I don't mind the occasional comments in that thread. But what really pisses me off is when someone posts like 10-20 pics in one posts and then someone quotes that post with all 20 pics! Why the hell can't people just say something like "*insert username here* nice car man! What kit is that??" is that so hard? Quoting entire posts with pics is like reposting someone elses car in the same thread.

damn, i wasnt saying it in a smart *** manner, though i guess thats how it came off. nor was it really directed at you, just in general. you people are pretty much saying you dont like it cause you dont want to have to read through the quotes, which takes up more room, which makes you have to move the scroll wheel more... but whatever, youre correct anyway, I am a dick. I cant deny it

What this place COULD use is an actual image gallery.. .That way people can post comments to pictures without pissing people off.

The mods are continually cleaning that topic (I've been doing it lately) to remove discussion and broken images. The reason discussion is removed is basically this:

1. It clogs up the topic. People want to see pictures, and not two pages of discussion.
2. Flame wars. People cannot seem to help being dumbasses in that thread.
3. Quotes. What we don't need is the same set of images quoted 200 times in replies.

Some people seem to understand this and have stopped posting their comments to the thread. Others ignore the moderators instructions in the first post and continually post comments. In that case I have had to send PMs asking them to stop. Some have listened, some have not. I've not yet decided how to handle those who have not.

Well if your craving comments on your car you could just post your pictures in your own thread.
