Some forum members suck.
Has anyone else noticed that there are so many losers on this forum? For example, you try to help someone out and they act like ********; they just don't appreciate your help. I'm starting to hate this forum. Hmm...maybe it's because these cars are more affordable and we are getting younger people on this forum.
This forum was pretty good over a year ago and now it just seems to be getting worse everyday.

I agree that the members of the forum have gotten quite a bit younger recently. You can't really blame the forum though. There is still no better place to get actual tech info than this forum.

I can agree with this thread - though - how young are you saying?
Anyway, I don't ask tech. on the 2nd gen publicly anymore. I normally get smart *** remarks that you as well are getting. The helpful guys on the forum, I normally PM, or have them on my AIM list. Not like I can't explain things that well, but still :P
It could be the loads of members too... too many members happen to get overly too crowed.
But... there shouldn't be any hostile around the forum. We all are here to help out and learn more... not to be idiots against other forum members, because they ask a relatively stupid or nonsense question that has been asked many times.

The forum is like any other society. There will always be people who don't get along and act like asses.
I remember what the forum was like when it first started... Those were the days...*sigh*
Part of the problem is the newbies which like to just pop in, ask a question (that's been asked a million times before) without searching or even scrolling down the list of threads. It annoys everyone, and is why a number of the "gurus" don't post anymore.

It's my impression that some members post just to see there names on line, or to get the post number up high enough to get their own avaitar. Anyway, I've been lurking this forum everyday for about a month, but as my post number indicates, I haven't had much to say. Part of the reason is that I won't attempt to anser a question unless I'm sure that I'm not talking out me ***. I also tend not to get into the pissing contests that seem to have become rampant on this forum in the last month or so. Not sure if this attitude comes with being over 30 or not, just my $.02

Toadman, I tend to agree with you. I was looking for an FD for almost a year when the F&F came out. When I say it I remember saying 'I'll never be able to get one now, every kid in america is going to want one.". As it turns out when I finally found mine, the guy who sold it to me told me I was the 50th person to come & see it, but the only one over 21.

I have to agree the forum has slide down hill. But i dont necessarily attest that to the stupid movie. I attest it to the lack of affordable rear wheel drive cars. And V6 mustangs and Fbodies dont count cause they ar fat and heavy for the most part (mine is about as fast as a stock T2).
Oh well, I'm 20 and it is kinda embarrassing seeing everyone act like prevs. I'm guilty as well.
And I do notice that the adults/experts tend to stay in the tech forums. I just hope they dont see all of us as a bunch of young brats. Lately I've been talking more on the forum because I'm all done w/ maintence or I have nothing to mod so I'm not in the tech forums.
I do actually think about what the older generation thinks about me and others cause they do know more and I'm just trying to gain their respect in being a enthusisats w/ them.

The forum has seemingly taken a down turn. But that is because of the majority of new people that post things like 20B install, jspec taillights, Is this FD a good deal, etc. and flood each area w/ multiple questions whereas a veteran posts a single question or response every couple of days. Basically, a veterans post gets lost in all the crap. I truly do enjoy and appreciate well documented tech articles. Evil Aviator, jimlab, maxcooper, RonKMiller, RETed as well as others offer great advice and share their knowledge, but they are no match for the useless crap that gets posted wayyyyy too frequently. Not only that, but I think that they too, tire of seeing the garbage and are not likely to post as often because of it.
I just wish the veterans would post more often to help spur more intellectual activity in this forum.
Also, quit asking the women for their pictures as such. Every User that is discovered to be a woman gets seemingly harassed in one way or another. Questions like: Who do you think is the hottest RX-7 member, etc., really put them on the spot. Do they want to be the center of attention? Maybe, maybe not. But let them decide. Those posts are on every single forum. (For example, Why do you think RX7ofMine is not an active member?).

I understand your frustration with a lot of the things that are going on. But blaming it on one or a few crowds is not going to help anyone. By placing blame all you are going to do is **** some other people off. I understand that there are a lot more people intrested in 7s that are younger but you superposters that have been here for years should be happy. You should be happy that another generation is finding intrest in this beloved car. And stereotyping the younger crowd won't help either. Saying that they have neon shifters? Come on yes there are ricers out there but not everyone is one, you can't just go around saying that hey he is under the age of 30 therefor he must be a ricer and not know, care, or care for their cars. It isn't true. On top of that most "ricers" can't afford a 7. It is either to expensive in the first place or they can't afford with keeping it up. I would really hate to see this forum ripped apart because a war was started between the old folks and the young folks. If you go back there is a thread about the WRX forum, where the older posters who had been there longer were taking over, making idiotic rules, and creating biasts against the newer posters. We should welcome each new person that comes to this forum. We should be happy that more people are getting into the seven and coming to this forum to talk about it. If there are jerks and "asses" out there just report them to a mod. That is what they are there for. If people are making stupid comments in tech sections or being mean report them or alert a mod. The moderators aren't going to just sit around and let people write hateful comments to each other in a tech section. They are doing there job. (Thank you again all moderators out there for giving your time to this forum). Seriously I really don't want this forum to be destroyed because people couldn't look past their differences, whatever they may be, be it gender, age, race, or anything else for that matter. This is just my perspective. And maybe I am biased because I am only 18. But if you have that big of a problem with people on this forum than leave, start your own forum, just don't bring this one down because you don't like "some" of the people on it. Thank you.
Sincerely Patrick Steiner

There are many great post on this thread, which made me see some other points of view.
I remember when I first joined this forum and there were approximately 4,000 members at the time and everyone was extremely helpful and friendly to one another. However, with over 20,000 members there are so many people that tends to bring this forum down. I just hope it's not going to turn into an LS1 or Supra Forum.

I was actually surfing this site way before I got my RX-7. I was a member here but wouldn't talk until I actually got my car. I didn't want to be one of 'those people' who ask, "is the rotary reliable?", or "im thinking of buying a rx7, what should I modify first?".
Unlike them, I searched and did my studying.
Oh well, all I know if everyone saw each other face to face (ala sevenstock 5) I don't think there would be much bashing going on or disrespecting.
I'd like to see someone go up to another rx7 guy and say his exhaust is rice. The nets just a good place to talk the talk w/out having to walk the walk.

Again you have this bias against newer members. Can you honestly tell me that older members questions are more important, better, or need more attention than the other people that post. THAT IS CRAP! If you say that you are saying that this person is better than that person. And if that is what you honestly believe than that really disturbs me. I can't believe that with all that has gone on this year that we have people placing people above others. Did you not learn anything from 9/11? No one is better than the other we are a nation. Stop judging people and relize that we all are the same. We should be helping each other out not putting people down. This really makes me angry. I respect you people that have been on the forum for so long. And to have you act like you were 12 and lived in the past where there was so much hatred and bigetry really disturbs me. I really thought that the people on this forum would have more respect for one another than to point fingers and blame over people asking questions. I repeat what I said above "How can you place someone higher than another?"

Tech Wise, the new members questions are usually(not always though) about a problem/discussion that has already been discussed before. I don't know if the newer people don't feel like searching or just search and get 5000 hits back and don't feel like picking through them.
If someone said that more older(both in age and forum join dates) members that have been registered longer ask more intelectual questions then I would say that is a fair statement.
It's gotten to the point the 3rd gen section that..
How do I get a 20B in my rx7?
Are 3rd gens reliable?
What's the best exhaust?
Post pics of your rx7!
Are some of the most asked questions in that forum. All of which have been asked before 100's of times. This wouldn't be a big deal if they were simple answers(other than it takes up forum space) but some of these subjects are very complex and take an hour to right a full response to tell everything to answer the question.
If I see any of these "newbie" questions anymore I'm just going to directly link the url of the search button.

I understand how those questions can be annoying if they are asked over and over again. But if they are tell them this has been asked before do a search for it or go back and look at it. And I still do not believe that newer mebers questions are not good enough to answer. I have seen many threads where some new member has asked a question which gets many people involved and many people thinking. Every person has their own ideas, we should embrace these ideas. If no one ever asked here is my idea do you think it would work or should I try it, or if people always responded no that is stupid don't do it, than so many things we have wouldn't be here. Hell the rotary engine may not be here. What if Wankel lived today and he went to an engine forum and asked hey what if I tried using these triangular things instead of pistons for an engine. Do you think he would want to try it if everyone is saying that is stupid don't ask questions like that here, I am too old to deal with these stupid ideas, No one would ever buy it. Huh? Do you think he would have created the rotary engine if he had gotten response like that? Open your minds. Don't just automatically say no that is stupid don't do that because he is younger than you are or joined later or doesn't have enough posts. Please just give people a chance.

Then again I am not one of the helpful guys, since I haven't receive a PM, etc :rooleyes:Anyways, you should keep posting in the 2nd gen forum, you may bring a question that somebody else has, or maybe somebody who's not a member here.

Also nowdays, we have people that doesn't love the rotary engine wondering around, kiddies, NA haters, etc.
ALL in ALL is a good place to learn, practice, and have some fun

From experience, when I use hte search, and search about a specific thing I am wanting to look for, i get 500+ other posts, and not about what *I* am specificially asking. Thus, posting a new topic, in trying to find the answer. The search is not 100% correct.

?
Which forum are we talking about?
Seriously in the first gen forum you don't usually get smart-*** remarks or anything, and if you do it's automatically assumed it was a joke.
All in good fun around there...
