Signature size limitation?

I'm going to bitch about something... surprise surprise!

Can we please start limiting the size of signatures on the forum? I know I'm being old-man-grumpy, but c'mon some of these signatures are getting out of hand.

Examples: (Note - I have nothing against these people, just the size of their sigs)

https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...postcount=2751
https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...postcount=2768
https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...postcount=2776
https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...postcount=2785
https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...postcount=2789

I don't care what people have in there signatures, photos, quotes, links, list of previous cars, whatever... but when the signature is 10x the height of the actual post, that's a little overboard don't you agree?

Examples of signatures which include photos, but aren't ridiculous:

https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...postcount=2754
https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...postcount=2792
https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...postcount=2793

I know that I have the option in my User CP to disable signatures, but that's not what I'm arguing.

I vote that we institute a signature height limitation of 150px. The standard online advertising banner size is 728x90px (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Standard_web_banner_ad_sizes.svg), even our avatars are taller than that at 100x100px.

A 150px limit would give everyone plenty of room for a banner photo and some lines of text. Perhaps forum vendors could get a 200px limit for a little more room.

I might be alone on this, but it's worth a shot.

/rant

EDIT:

After posting I double checked the signature editing area of the User CP. For signature photos, it states "Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 600 by 150 pixels or 29.3 KB (whichever is smaller). "

That would be great if it were enforced!

Size limitations are actually clearly spelled out in the forum rules, but enforcement is a "best effort" kinda thing. Mods try to catch oversize signatures, but with as many users as we have, it can be difficult. You can help us by using the "report post" feature when you see one, and in the report, just call out the user with the oversize sig.

Well I'll be damned!

1. Custom signatures are enabled, but any graphics used in such signatures are limited to 600 X 150 or 38 KB (whichever is smaller).

2. Signatures are limited to six lines of regular text, including blank lines, or the equivalent size in picture, or picture/text combination.

3. There is currently no system to automatically check for signature size limits, so Admins and Moderators will be checking manually. Should your sig be found in violation, you will be asked to fix it; if you don't comply, it may be removed without warning. It is your responsibility to edit your sig and bring it within compliance.
I guess I'll be "that guy" and start reporting these people haha

Only thing to keep in mind is that was a bit out of date, the current guideline is 12 lines of text or thereabouts. I'll go update the FAQ now.

I like all my text...

Start PM'ing me if you want to be "that guy" and I'll t-bone every example you can find as long as its not a paying Forum Vendor...if it's nice, they get to exercise the "200p" option.
