Is it just me or is the website getting slower and slower?

Alright, I admit the site was never a screamer when I was running the show ... but it sure seems that it's getting slower and slower over the last many months. There have been many many times during that period that I'll hit submit on a post, and it'll time out, I hit back and resubmit, it times out again, and finally I give up and walk away. This afternoon there was about an hour where it was taking close to a minute to load every page.

I doubt I'm alone, but what I'm wondering is how many of you post or visit here less because of how slow it's become? Did the site used to load faster for you than it does now?

... fingers crossed that it doesn't time out when I hit submit in 3 seconds

I get the 2AM blues when the nightly maintanence and of course there is the 30 minute Thursday backup thing that happens. Otherwise I don't really have any issues from the laptop, work PC or desktop at home. My phone is actually pretty fast (as long as I'm connected at 3G speeds). Heck, the work PC is a Linux box with an old PIII processor so it's not an overhead issue I don't think

I did do a website speed test and there were some script recommendations. I'll send those recommendations up the pole and see if they stick. Maybe you guys are hostings some malware or other leeching softwares.

Right now, every page is taking a solid 20-30 seconds to load.

On a related note, I've suddenly started having a lot of trouble with the connection timing out due to slow server response. It's been occurring over the last 3 days, and it doesn't matter if I'm at home or at work, or if I try another browser. This morning I've had it time out at least 30 times in the last 15 minutes.

Just in the last few days I've noticed it has taken a long time to load pages.

Same here, the site has definitely been slower the past few days for me. Ive gotten to where I copy all my post before I submit them or else I will lose them when I hit submit and the page doesnt load. Sometimes Ill have to try and load a page a few times before it will actually come up. I know its not my computer, it loads other websites quickly.

Out of the 7-8 forums I regularly visit, this one is BY FAR the slowest.

(and to add insult to injury, it timed out 3 times trying to post this! haha)

Its the slowest its ever been for me right now. It won't even load two thirds of the time. Makes it real hard to research.

My understanding is there is a massive network issue at a West Coast data center that is causing the problem for this and many other websites as well as some regional ISPs.

I don't know if this is DDOS or something else, but they are aware of the issue and are working to get it resolved.

I will post updates if/when I get them. In the meantime some of the guys are using the FB group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6204381247

I wasn't going to mention it, since the OP was the owner, and I am still quite fearful of his wrath.

Ha, love the notice up top ... looks like they tried screwing somebody else over too, somebody with a bit more hacking skillz. Not that I would ever condone such actions.
