Exclamation Ideas To Try And Put A Stop To Scammers!!

Hey guys,

I think it is time we try and take a step or two to try and get rid of all these damn scammers in the classified section...Now I dont know if any of my resolutions would be possible or not...But they are just some ideas...Let me know what you guys think...

1) Must have atleast 100+ post's..

2) Must be a member for "X" amount of time (6 months?)

3) Must have a verified paypal stuff (address, bank account, etc?)

Everyday I check the classified section I find a new scammer...I am just getting so sick of finding them, yet not being able to do anything about it... If you guys got any other ideas I really wanna hear them...I will do just about whatever it takes to get these ******** gone for good...

Thanks guys,
Shawn

but the we would be ruling out people that are really legit...ive bought stuff from a couple of new members and they were the best ones ive delt with...i sold stuff with less than 100 post. Yes there are scammers and it would be nice to get rid of them but on the other hand it wouldnt be fair for the people who are ACTUALLY trying to sell some quality parts......i dunno just my .02

the protege forums i'm on have a pretty good system, i think they have gone a little overboard with it in some cases but it works really well...

they require that everything being sold have pictures of the item with a peice of paper with the users name, the date, and the forums name written on it in each picture, they also require detailed pictures of the items being sold be posted IN the FS thread, that helps reduce the amount of people who try to sell things and "hide" damage that might not be visible in certain pictures... they've also got some pretty hardcore moderators that scour the forums for threads not meeting the requirements, within a day if the thread doesn't meet the rules it gets closed, sometimes sooner...

your ideas are a little extreme, there are lots of instances i can think of on many forums where members who meet all your requirements have still ripped people off, and just like charlie said there are lots of newer members who are very good sellers...

This needs to go along with my feedback thread. People are to lazy even when they are scammed to make a new thread telling what has happened.

Good idea. I think that all sellers need to have a valid phone number and address in their ads, too.

most of teh time, it falls to the hands of the buyer, if they dont do their research of the seller, no matter how many posts the seller has, he/she still can scam you...

people need to read the sticky i made...

How about a 3rd party? The seller could send the part and the buyer could send the money. and the 3rd party could make a couple bucks. I wouldn't mind say 5 bucks from the seller and 5 from the buyer.
