+1 to that

mine's been 500 for a while now, and it sucks.

old, crappy servers = we had unlimited PM's

newer (still old) servers = 1000 PM's.

Newest, best technology = 500PM's?

Freshalloy.com gives me a 10,000PM limit..

what gives?

Guys, we were given tons of advance warning, and there are tools at our disposal to back up the messages.

It has nothing to do with the servers at all. It is a change in the software of the forum. What does the servers have to do with a PM inbox limit?

The PM box is a user-group selectable value I'm sure in VB, I've only toyed with vb a tad though can't stand the horrid layout

and yes the limit is weak, 500 mesg's is like 500kB of sql space.

I personally reformat my computer too often to back up my mesgs, so i gotta go through them from al the times ive given out **** lol

You can download all of your PM's to HTML. Or take them and copy them into a MS Word document?

it wasn't so much covered as it was more or less replied to with some non-responses from the "staff".

Your information is incorrect.

Its been 500 since about a year before the board was sold (two almost three years ago) on the old crappy servers, due to people abusing it back them.

Not getting why anyone needs more than 500. This isn't face book.

I guess a late response is better than none.

Obviously people DO want the 1000 (or more), why such a low limit?

It's not a big issue for me currently but when I was buying and selling tons of rx-7 crap I'd have to clean my box out monthly. All those PM's are now gone, I haven't needed them, but what if I did?

"this isn't face book" No of course it isn't, facebook gives you unlimited space. :P This is how RX-7 owners communicate with each other, if you let it grow you'd be amazed at what it could become.

There's no reason at all why phpbb can't handle as many PM's as you have posts on this website. Hard drive space is cheap these days. I think its under $0.10/GB now. I'm sure it's affordable to allow everyone to have 1000, or even 10,000 PM's, so that can't be the issue.

Sorry doc for not searching

I am selling alot of parts right now that I have left over from my TII swap and i had to delete alot of my pms to clear space, I wish I could go back and see how much I bought the items for.

Also, when you are selling items you get a ton of pm's. I had 10 Pm's on 1 item alone. That starts to add up if you are cleaning out your shop like I am.

I understand that there is alot of members on this site, some that dont even log in anymore. I think maybe an upgraded mailbox option might be in order. Just dont give it to everyone, only people that ask.

I would love to have a 1000 PM inbox. I have to empty my PM's every couple of weeks because I do a lot of selling and the such. I just emptied it not to long ago and I'm back at 99% now. >_>
