Have test for newbie's about rx7 before posting

We need to have rx7 test for newbies so they don't post stupid comment on people's thread.

That is stupid. Newbies come here because they are seeking information they dont have. You cant expect them to have information in order to get it, maybe you should just ignore newbie posts if it buggs you that much. Let other people handle them if all your going to yell is READ THE FAQ NEWBIE

I think it would be a good idea to have a couple of easy questions over the faq section. The same questions get asked over and over. If they were forced to read a little about 7's in the faq section, then they would see how much information is already on here. But whatever, it's not a big deal.

I second that. I never asked any noob questions before i researched but some people expect that, since this is a "forum", they can ask a question and get an intelligent response from mature people. If you don't like the question, ignore it. There is plenty of room on this website for all of these threads.

Anybody can make a stupid post in somebody's thread, it's not limited to newbies. The only "problem" with new ppl to the forum is that they don't know any better to search and look for information that's been asked before, so they create a thread.

Not saying that all new ppl do that, just seems to be a norm; happens on every forum.

I think there just needs to be a better way of directing new ppl to those area's like the FAQ's. Don't ask me how though.

Ignoring it hurts the quality of the forum. when one does a search, a bunch of repetitive junk comes up as it is, thus it's harder to find new information.
how many threads are needed on what kind of oil, or best computer? One shouldn't start a new thread unless the thread is in some way unique. Add value to an existing!
True newbies are seeking information, but many don't bother to use advanced search.

Having the same topic covered over and over again technically makes that subject much easier to research. If it annoys you, again, ignore it, you still got the answer you want from one of the many repetitive posts. If you are searching a topic dont you want lots of the same results covered over and over again so you have all the information you could ever need? If you were searching for a fix for your headlights and kept getting repeat oil discussion threads I could see the problem here, but you seem to be only upset that the same question is asked and answered over and over again. As long as rotary powered cars exist, there will always be new owners asking the same old questions. If this didnt happen then our rx7s would go the way of Stanley Steamer's. Deal with it.

Hey guys I'm looking at getting a new RX-7... what year should I get? I think the newer ones are so pretty. I don't like working on my car that much, so since the newer ones have computers, it will be great to have it tell me what's wrong. What's a 2+2? What's the difference between a GTU and an R1? I'm confused.

oooh... do they make a new RX-7 convertible? I can't find one anywhere. How long do the head gaskets hold up on the rotaries? I know on my honda when I would drift with it, it wouldn't hold up for very long without using zip ties.

What car would be the best for my car club when I go streetrace and drift? I want something I can take offroading too. How well does the rotary hold up with synthetic oil?

Thanks in advance...

A. I think it is a good idea to have a few simple questions for new members, ones that would encourage them to search enuf to at least know the generation, model, and package that their car is.

B. I think we should make the information on the site available in a slightly more convenient way. I hear alot of people complaining about noobs and there questions as well as people complaining about the searches turning up repititive and bunk info but very few people are willing to actually do something to cure it. I know all of us have questions about our cars on a regular basis so organising the info on the site would benefit all of us and if we share the workload we could do it pretty easily. (please see my post in the suggestions section)

C. There are always gonna be people making stupid posts, if it really bugs you then don't respond to them, if you want to help them, and the site, point them in the right direction. If they are worth having around then they will they will take your advice and do some looking, if they are to lazy, then they will leave thinking we're a bunch of unhelpful a-holes and we'll all be better off.

Just my 2 cents, J
