Tyler,
The vendors being up top has nothing to do with IB or revenue.
Vendors pay money to advertise therefore should be at the top of the list. However we are looking at restructuring the arrangement of all the forums.

Like I stated in my previous post the tech sections should be more of a priority than any thing on this Club.

Put the lounge back where it was.

Leave vendors at the top, that's what they pay for.

I agree w/ the non-technical posts, if it's related to that GEN of car it should be fine in the main forum that everyone actually view. The mods are a bit overzealous, too bad. Time for some new ones. If it makes you guys feel better this forum is better than a lot of other car forums. The best I've been on is the BMW forums, the worst are the Ford Mudstain forums, I've never owned one I just like seeing how blindly ignorant those guys are.

When I made this thread I didnt mean to call the forum lame, I just want to point out its failings and see that they get some attention. I know I dont pay for this forum, nor do I pay to use the forum, and that I should thank the IB people for allowing it to continue to be on the web.

This is one of the most visited Rx7 website for sure, because it includes all gens, instead of just one like some of the others.

I know they need Ads and Vendors to pay money for using the forum, thats how the business pays for itself, I understand I own a business, I know what it takes.

Also I want to thank The Doc for coming in here, and giving input and dont closing the thread right away, like some of the other mods would have. Sometimes I wonder if the power has gone to some of their heads. IMO alot of them make more trouble than they do good.

The forum should be arrange in order of importance/usefulness:

1) tech sections generation specific

2) tech sections general (race, turbo, etc.)

3) classifieds

4) general/lounge (put the trash at the bottom where it belongs)

People come here 1) as a source of info and 2) as a source of parts, and finally 3) as a source of bullshit/time burning.

1. Why did you make the thread? You just pretty much pulled a complete 180 on how you felt about the forum.

2. Yes, it is the most viewed site, and will continue to be.

3. We don't close threads just because of power. We close threads because it goes completely off of topic, it is rude, etc. We don't make trouble for anybody, other members of the forum cause the trouble and moderators try to step in to solve problems/concerns, but of course there are only a few of us, and thousdans of members.

4. If a moderator has "power going to their head" it is viewed upon by the other moderation staff. I can check ALL of the moderated/closed/locked threads through my account since the beginning of the forum (well, since the hack) . I can also view deleted, or edited posts through my account. Although, I can only view them for the forums that I moderate.

TO BE ON TOPIC- Yes, I found the new arrangement very weird, and I also agree that it needs to be changed back to what it originally was. Just go take a look at the "Post pictures of your FD" thread in 3rd Gen Spec. That has 1mil+ views. That's alot! The most views in a lounge/gen auto/kills thread is maybe 30,000. Maybe 50,000?

But I concur, change it back.

I thought I would never see the day that you and I were 100% on the same page about this Kevin.

This is what I have proposed.

Generation Specific
Tech and Performance
Regional Forums / Upcoming Events
Vendors and Group Buys
Private Party Classifieds
General Topics

I would put the events further down above the lounge, but yes that looks fine.

And we would agree more often if you could simply be more realistic with your opinions.

I agree with you Kevin on the order of the sections.

We try to be realistic but it's hard when you have 20 other people posting in a thread saying "this forum sucks for xxxxx reason". Like I said, there's only a few of us, and as we all know we do have lives. But let's keep this on topic.

I didnt pull a 180, Im still upset with the forum, but Im smart enough to know that throwing gas into a already burning fire isn't the best of ideas. It is only just the internet also, cant take it too serious. With or Without me this site will continue to go on.

Being a FB, and TII FB owner I have only visted the FD section a few times, but the times I needed help in there, I didnt have a large enough flame suit to survive in there. I was worried that my computer may have burst into flames if I asked another question.

I guess the thing I would like to see corrected it the layout of the sections, but as I can already see you guys are working on it.

it's always been this way though, ever since I joined anyway. I lurk more than I post, but I see a lot of "oh, you didn't search! sod off" even though the person says they've been searching for the past hour.

not saying it's right or good or anything, because honestly I don't think it is. chasing new members away isn't a good thing, but maybe people just don't care since there are so many members.

well, whatever has to happen, should. it's stupid to see people being ******** to others when they've stated multiple times that they've searched with no avail. It doesn't help anybody, and it probably doesn't help the sponsors or the site as a whole either (if you want to go down that avenue).

I'm quoting your post on page 1 for emphasis

There has only been an addition of a business classifieds and it is separate from the private. Nothing has changed in the private except for a race parts section that was added recently. The specific parts sections are still the same.

You guys DO know you can completely collapse a certain section of the forum from the main page? I completely collapse the "Viewers Online" "Members Birthdays" and "Board Stats". I also collapse the Vendors/Group Buy section. This does make life a little bit easier as I don't have to scroll through the whole front page.

Just a little bit of info.

I couldn't agree more, I've got a degree in communication with alot of background in psych and sociology. I have a morbid geek fascination with what you're talking about. It's almost a bully type mentality where it doesn't actually matter how much the person has searched they're still gonna be chastised. Kinda like "Go get me a coke", when they get back empty handed cause there's not one in the fridge, . "WTF!?!? Did you look in the pantry!?!?! Do I need to show you how to get to the pantry!?!? WTF!?!?....and bring back some ice...."

I think a big part of the problem is the rotary and car people who know what they're doing take for granted what it's like to be new to automotive performance. Then the new people make a similar assumption with not realizing just how complicated cars are, so they ask questions without having the background to work out the answers for themselves.
