"Build" Subforum?
"Build" Subforum?
Hey Mods!
Just entertaining the idea of having a subforum specifically for the people that are blogging or journaling their car builds. Ideally it would be of each generation of car, but its only my assumption that if we have separate generations of builds, that it would just be too many subforums and owners of each generation would be deprived of the work of older or younger generations of cars. We are, after all, a club that promotes all generations of rotaries.
I would hope that the build subforum would also encompass both the race car like builds and the restoration builds. Both of which I have seen a lot of recently.
The 3rd gen section has scrub's restoration and the fabrication forum has a phenomenal build of a PP 13b (sorry I dont know your handle off the top of my head).
Though only two examples, these two builds have shown the many personalities of the people here on the forum but also the many possibilities of what can be done with rotaries; even cars in general.
Its also my belief that if this forum were available for us to log our builds, that it would promote further unity and a heck of a lot more posting of pictures and text. Im unsure if that's good for you mods and the owner of the servers, but I'm sure growth is a good thing.
Enough talk from me. Thanks for the great work mods!

Most other forums have something like this. Would clear up the tech section for just threads about problems and give people a seperate place to post their builds. I think its a great idea.
Guys have been doing build threads for years and we haven't made a specific section for them, I can't see this taking off without a tremendous outcry for support.
It seems like a good idea now, but it's going to be littered with lots of half-assed builds that guys think they are pros, when in reality they just don't have a clue.

By grouping all the bad and good together, it might compel the weaksauce builds to step up their game, do things right and turn their cars into hawtsauce.
There is a ton of talent on here. That talent is poured into these cars and I think that only the people specifically within that generation of cars gets to see it.(I personally only go into the 3rd gen stuff but have interests in the other gens) I would love to see REPU builds next to FD3S and the progress each make and the unique solutions each face. I ideally would hope for a movement of people building amazing cars as the people that should not own rotaries get weeded out.
Which leads to the con, Im sure it will make the owners that think they have the mechanical inclination to do the same things that professional builders are doing and in turn, further perpetuate the stigma that rotaries are bad cars, because of course, they fail. And fail miserably. This, I definitely do not like.
I guess I would really like to see a a single place on the forum to bridge all the generations of cars.

The way I see it, these so called "half-***" build threads are going to be posted either way, agree? SO better it be in a section just for that type of thing, than cluttering up the tech section.
What we REALLY need is a how-to section for each generation. Its a pain to have to search for threads that could be several years old and god knows some of the threads are titled very indirectly.
But, I think thats what the archives were originally intended to be?
Ugh, I dont want to pick on people but is this "wall of text" build thread with no attached images necessary in the 3rd gen specific forum?
Looks like it should be something in the New "Car Build" forum

Even having these certain sections catering to build threads won't even help with the amazing grammar 7Club members use. I like the original idea, but adding more and more sections is just an excuse to make 7Club members not use their brains. The best thing to do is have a "Build" subsection for each Generation of RX-7's. You don't have to bring on more Moderators or have Moderator's volunteer for the newly added section.

Multiple build subforums would only compound the amount of work that mods would have to do. I am only suggesting ONE build forum of ALL generations of cars.
